Export issue in X1 C1

Hi there.  First project in X1 and loving it but I have hit a snag.  I am trying to export my finished project through a compressor and limiter.  However the exported wave or mp3 is not as loud as what is playing in Sonar.  Any thoughts?  I have tried slow bounce as well but same results.

Can you put up a screen shot of your export settings? That's probably the easiest way of diagnosing this.

Are you mixing down to a Wav file first then opening a new project and applying the compressor and limiter?

Yes I am mixing to wave and then opening a new project.  I am getting the same problem in 8.5.  So this is not an X1 issue but likely operator error.  I am going to try a different limiter.

It's probably not the limiter's fault. More likely, you're somehow bypassing the limiter on export.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

You are right.  The limiter did not help.  A basic description of my set up is:

    - Track playing into master bus.
    - Master bus has limiter and compressor and is routed to the sound card.
    - On export, I have clicked all options in the export dialogue other then audible bounce.
    - The project is loud and proud within Sonar but quiet upon export like it somehow bypassed the limiter or something.

As a test, I placed a flanger on the master bus (something really obvious so I could see whether the master bus effects were part of the bounce) and yes the flanger was bounced quieter than the main mix.

So something is happening to quieten my mix within my system (possibly outside X1).  It isn't X1 because I have the same problem in 8.5.  Any thoughts?

Ok just did one more test.  I disabled all plugs and did a straight bounce without any effects.  The bounce is quieter than my mix by a significant factor!  Aaargh- please help!
