Export problem with NI Piano sustain

I recently purchased Sonar Home Studio 6 and NI Akoustik Piano and am using a Triton LE as a keyboard with a Korg sustain pedal. I am able to record NI's piano within Sonar and it plays back just fine, with sustain, in the program.

My problem is that when I attempt to 'export' the song the .wav file doesn't include any of the sustains that I played during the recording. Notes play fine, but without sustain. This playback without sustains also occurs when I freeze the Akoustik Piano in the synth window.

Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the Akoustic however I recommend you check what setup options you have for the instrument. Some instruments have a "Bounce" option which corrects some of these issues. Also as a second shot, try slow bouncing, this will make Sonar bounce at normal playback speed and may resolve the issue.

Go to Options-Global-MIDI and make sure you have Controller checked otherwise you won't record the pedal on and off events.
Check the Event View on the MIDI track to see if the pedal events were recorded. Sustain pedal is controller 64.
Make sure the NI Akoustik is set to respond to the pedal controls.

another thing you might want to check is be sure that NI Akoustik DOES map controllers according to GM. If not, your keyboard's sending CC64 to the MIDI data track, but NI's not responding to CC64 as sustain. some samplers remap their controllers like that.

Thanks for the advice 'daveny5'. I followed up on your three points out earlier this morning but still have the same problem when I export or when I freeze the NI synth within Sonar.

    1. the controller is set in Options | Global | Midi
    2. the event view shows all the controller 64 events (up/down arrows also appropriately show up )
    3. NI Akoustik responds to the pedal both in standalone mode and when used within Sonar

'Beagle' mentioned something about NI mapping to GM. I'm going to try to read up my NI documentation to see about that. Let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thanks to the both of you...I'll start researching more tonight.

If NI responds to CC64 during playback then it should do it during mixdown as well, so that's probably not going to be your problem. unfortunately, tho, I don't have any other suggestions. you might want to check on the NI forums and see if someone else has had this particular problem before.

    Think I solved it.

I configured the bounce to 'normal' (not the fast bounce) and made sure Akoustik Piano 'wave to disk' button was selected. All seems well. Thanks for the help guys.
