For under $37 these are tempting. Who has them?  Thinking about those Live Strings.

Pass - the word on these is they are CPU hogs.

Maybe it's time to upgrade your CPU. I wouldn't pass on them. They sound amazing. If you get the Complete Bundle, with the extra 20%, you'll get 15 libraries at $12.81 each.

Um NO! The issue is with development. After reading 5 pages on a different forum I was convinced. I hate these ignorant replies.  With no posts under your user name I'm thinking shrill.

LOL! They run on Kontakt, so I don't know what the issue is. I have a much older CPU and run them with no issue. But what do I know... I'm ignorant. Didn't know I had to scan and attach my ID to post something. Shrill? I really don't care what you do.

I have/had two of the singles and upgraded to the Master edition a few months ago.  They are very nice sounding.  But they are also pretty much meant to be played one single note at a time, which I think throws a lot of people off.  If you go playing chords with them you'll run out of CPU really fast.  Single notes, not so bad.

They also are really setup for you to drive/animate the controls "live".  If you don't have a control surface or an expression pedal you won't get nearly as much out of them.

Honestly the Kontakt scripting is half brilliant and half disappointing.  Among the disappointments is the high CPU usage and the lack of an easy way to load/save the arp/effects/sequence settings by themselves (you can save the whole preset, but if you work out a nice arp pattern, you can't save just that pattern for reload.  The new rhythm tab does have load/save but none of the earlier features got them).  I had hoped the Kontakt Player version would polish up all those little bits, but that didn't happen.  They made some changes to help you deal with the larger sound collection included in the Master edition but nothing near what they really should have done.  The fact you pick sound sources from multiple drop down menus rather than having some sort of search/viewer/previewer is very annoying.  I really wish they had spent a bit of time looking at Sample Logic and Output's instruments and then tried to do better.

That said they are really nice soundscapes and if you are making music that could use that, I'd think you could find a use for them, even with the high CPU usage.

I would normally say try one, but the Master version is better than the singles and I don't think they have updated any of the singles to work the same way.  As a result I'm not sure how much you'd get experience-wise from trying a single.  The Master version actually seems to use more CPU than the singles.

I think they are back to releasing new standalone instruments that won't integrate into the Master version (until they have enough of them to release a new Master version).  Which kind of seems less than desirable.

I bought the previous series of these and got kind of miffed when they went on one of those vstbuzz/audioplugin.deals sites. I think if I buy the second set, I will wait for them to hit on one of those before I do.
