FAO Cake: A VST3 followed by a UAD plug causes SONAR X3 to crash - CWBRN-19994

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1227448/testCrash.cwp

That is a cwp with no audio. One track with the following VSTs.

Bass Rider(VST3)
T-Racks 2A (VST2) - Edit: This not necessary to cause the crash
UAD Helios (VST2)

If you own these plugs dl the project, open it and try to turn off or delete T-Racks. It crashes for me.

I even tried Boost 11 in lieu of T-Racks 2a. Same. Crash.

When I just have Bass Rider (VST3) followed by a single VST2 (T-Racks or Boost11) I cannot make it crash.

Update:

I just tried a new crash-able scenario.

Open a new project.

Insert Bass Rider (VST3)
Insert any UAD plug (VST2)

Crash.

And people laugh at me because I own "too many plugs".

I should be a beta tester.

Yeah, I saw this one over the weekend as well.  Any UAD inserted after a VST3 causes an immediate crash.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

UPDATE:

I just tried a new scenario

Mix Control Large (VST3)
UAD Pulteq (VST2)

Crash city.

So it's not isolated to Waves/UAD but it's related to any VST3/UAD combination

I've never applied. Is there open invitations to join the beta program? I've never looked for it.

Verified here. I used Softube Active EQ and a UDA plug. Immediate crash.

From the dump you sent, the crash for this bug is heap corruption in the UAD code. I'm now going to try installing a Quad and see if I can reproduce it.

Mine is CWBRN-19922.  Only did one problem report, but it happened under the same circumstances repeatedly.  Only took me a few times before I realized it happened any time I had a VST3 plugin before a UAD.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

I got to the bottom of this problem. I gave up trying to install the UAD 2 quad. Their drivers would recognise the hardware on both of my computers. However Lance was able to get one working on a different machine and we could repro it.
I finally found the problem by inspecting our UAD specific code. It has to do with a custom UAD API that we use for optimizing chaining UAD plugins side by side. This API doesn't handle VST3 plugins and therefore causes the crash.
I will test my fix tomorrow.
