FF400 + Win7 x64 Problems

I've been using a Fireface 400 for the last six months with no issues.  Then my hard drive died, and I used the opportunity to upgrade from Vista x64 to Win7 x64.  Everything else in my system stayed the same.

I installed the latest drivers, then ran the flash update tool to get my FF400 upgraded from 1.69 to 1.70 firmware.  This all worked fine.  And I can plug instruments into the inputs, and direct-monitor them through the outputs.   When I do this, I see all the meters move in the Fireface mixer, just as expected, and everything seems to work fine.

However, I cannot get any audio from my computer to play through the FF400.  If I go to Windows Control Panel and try to test the speakers, the test hangs until I right-click and hit "Stop test".  When I startup Sonar, I see all inputs and outputs, and it runs its hardware check fine.  But when I try to play anything, no sound comes out.  Even though Sonar appears to be playing, none of the meters inside of Sonar register anything, and nothing happens with the FF400.

I've run out of ideas...  Anyone got any clues?

Using an ASUS P6T Deluxe, which appears to be using a VIA 1394 OHCI firewire driver.

Got this issue solved...  It was indeed a conflict with the firewire drivers, and I needed to switch to the legacy drivers, as follows:

1- Click the Start Button, type devmgmt.msc in the “Start Search” box and press Enter (or start up Device Manager via any of the other methods, such as Administrative Tools -> Computer Management, etc.).
2- Expand the "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers" node in the device tree on the right hand pane
3- Right click the host controller node select "Update driver software ..."
4- Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
5- Select "let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer ..." and Check the box before “Show compatible hardware”.
6- Choose the second option---1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy), and click next to update the driver

RME came up with the "Legacy" fix that all firewire interfaces seem to need.
I thought they had a new driver that made that unnecessary though...

Glad you got up and running.
