FIXED! Sound Center Instrument Examples Pack not detected

SEE LAST POST.

I installed the Cakewalk SoundCenter Examples Pack (a handful of extra instruments for your library), and after a few auditions, they stopped functioning.

The SoundCenter Examples pack auto-installs to the Program Files (X86) folder. I started up Sonar X3, then while auditioning a few of these SoundCenter instruments, the next one I played failed to load and I got a "module not found" error window. This happened with every Example instrument I tried to play. I added that VSTPlugins folder to the tree and did a VST scan but this didn't fix the problem.

Then, to make matters worse, I did something daring. I copied the similar Module folders from Program Files (X86) to Sonar's own home (in the same location) in Program Files. After that, SI Drum Kit failed to load. Did another VST scan, didn't fix either problem.

I deleted all Cakewalk folders and un/reinstalled Sonar X3 and left out the Examples Pack for the time being.
Can anyone tell me why the SoundCenter example instruments stopped functioning? I have intentions on buying a bundle pack but if they don't remain stable within my library.

Thanks in advance. :)

* During setup, X3 insisted on installing the Application Content to Program Files (X86)/Cakewalk/Cakewalk Content.
I changed it to Program Files...I wonder if this contributes to the above problem?

    FOLLOW-UP:

Reinstalled Sonar X3e. (This time I did NOT change the intended location of any folders upon install.) Then I installed the DSF Cakewalk Instrument Examples pack, but whilst browsing the SoundCenter in Sonar X3, the Examples are not there. On the previous installation, I even added the Program Files (X86) paths to my VST scan area, but it didn't pick up the Examples.

So now, I've gone from having a pack of fully-operational instrument Examples...to only being able to play a few before getting the above error...to Sonar X3 NOT DETECTING them, although I'm scanning within the X86 folder.

What good is installing the Instrument Packs if Sonar X3 is so picky in finding them? Am I missing something?
Any straight-foward assistance would be appreciated. Thanks again!

I haven't installed Sound Center expansion packs, but have done so for Rapture and Dimension Pro. With both of those, it's necessary to hit F5 to refresh their browsers. I wonder if it's the same with Sound Center?

The CSC is a DimPro/Rapture player but there is no programs.lst in the "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Sound Center\Programs" directory. Not sure how the browser in CSC is updated.

I have no experience with CSC other than test a few of the programs it had in common with DimPro.

Running the VST scanner is never necessary when adding Expansion Packs to any existing synth. The synth has already been scanned and the scanner does not scan the synth for content.

The Expansion packs are not a Cakewalk product. Historically DSF support has been very good about helping with installation issues. They sometimes post on the Cakewalk Instruments forum but I would contact them directly.

Anderton -- I tried pressing F5 to "refresh" the SoundCenter browser, and it does nothing.

Scook -- I will contact DSF about the issue.

Technically, these things were playing the very first time. Then after a few, they stopped loading. I've reinstalled Sonar at least four times, trying different install options/folders. This shouldn't be a huge hassle. I'm considering reformatting my hard drive because even clearing the Cakewalk Software folders out of the Registry doesn't seem to be enough.

If the pack installs and plays at all, I would not think it is a DSF issue but a Cakewalk support issue. I doubt continually reinstall the software does anything. Make sure when reinstalling Cakewalk software, remove the registry entries after uninstalling and then re-install. Unless there is a compelling need, allow SONAR to install in the default locations.

It is difficult to determine if this is a 32bit or 64bit installation of SONAR. The CSC is a 32bit plug-in and all of your prior experience with the product was using MC6 which is a 32bit host.

I elected to install the 64-bit version (hence my signature :))

Both 32bit and 64bit X3 may be installed on the same machine, they reside in different directories.  CSC being a 32bit plug-in may work better in a 32bit host.

DSF replied, plainly suggesting I review the default installation paths. Following this, I uninstalled Sonar X3 and the Examples Pack, then clearing the registry of every trace of Cakewalk Whatever I could find.

NEXT...I re-installed Sonar X3 32, 64 and MC6T, then the DSF Examples Pack. The Examples STILL don't appear in SoundCenter. (Oh, they're in the right path and I could try copying them to my existing VST folder, but last time I did that, things only got worse.) On a separate note, the install is creating Project folders all over my hard drive and that drives me bonkers.

I'm so frustrated. Instead of working on music, I'm spending hours reinstalling my software repeatedly to troubleshoot this ridiculous issue. Of course, I don't need more instruments, but that's not the point. The point is that no extra Sound Center instruments are being detected...ever.

I responded to DSF instantaneously and I'm going to post this issue in the Cakewalk Instruments Forum.
Pending this, I may just reformat my hard drive and start from scratch.

SoundCenter now detects the DSF Instrument Examples Pack.

Via a loosely-targeted Google search, I discovered a Steam message thread link with the solution. JoeStevensUS suggested moving the Cakewalk Sound Center folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\vstplugins to the hidden C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk folder. The extra Instruments appear in Sound Center as they should.

         http://steamcommunity.com/app/222710/discussions/0/846965056819493782/

However, I find this solution puzzling. I had the add-on working previously without having to merge the Sound Center folders. Then again, I don't remember if this was before my upgrade from Music Creator to Sonar.

In addition, missing Multisample errors were triggered by the instruments Lady Organ (Electronica), Deep Mind (Electronica), and Clay Tones (World).

Given these two issues, I'm guessing that the DSF Examples installation file may be flawed. However, the link above pointed me to the proper solution and what I thought was a tremendous issue seemed to be a mere files mismanagement.

Thanks to those who offered assistance here! :)
