I know. Now I also know why I got that PC license last year without owning a PC.

I have had free lifetime updates from ImageLine since about 2002. That said, I haven't even downloaded a FL product for over a decade, let alone used it in anger. I've just downloaded FL20 - it does look very familiar from all those years ago, although I don't doubt it is far, far more powerful. I have a Groove3 account, and am just starting to learn it all over again. I love the fact that all these years later I still have access to a top drawer DAW for free. That said, I have heard it is "limited" in terms of audio recording, which is the mainstay of my work. I also use Melodyne integration in Sonar and Studio One frequently. I'm not sure if FL supports that. Anyone else have input on what FL20 is like today? Just wondering if it is worth my investing significant time in learning the program again. I am very tempted!

I’m thinking of using FL20 as a plugin in LPX.

It does not work with melodyne as well as studio one or cakewalk, but functions. The strength of fl is the ability to crank out radio friendly pop/hip-hop/dance music with stock sounds rapidly. It sucks for recording and mixing is awkward imho, but not impossible. Most users mix in another DAW. That being said, included instruments and effects are great. Major changes include upgrade of fruity slicer to Edison (among the best included samplers among daws for slicing), sample manipulation plugins like Gross Beat and improvements to piano roll which make it among a the best piano rolls.

I would also add that FL Studio has Newtone built in and is arguably better than the essential version of Melodyne that comes with Sonar as you can do more micro-editing on each note. Check it out in the demo with a vocal sample and compare the two. I have Melodyne Studio and is a step above these in functionality, but is more cumbersome to use without aria.
