FR: Idea for Sonitus Delay?

Hi Gang...

I don't know if there's a chance that these plugins might get some attention, but I run into these same issues with this device (Sonitus Delay) often...

I like the delay a lot and it's very versatile, but I find I need these two items and the Sonitus Delay is the closest I've found for it...

All I'm looking for are discrete gain/mute controls for each side of it's stereo output... The mix control Won't do it.... Different function.

Yes, I can usually find a workaround with an extra plugin or three, but I believe these tools would be handy...

Whatcha think? (I'm gonna Feature Request it anyway but if you think it's a good idea, it would be helpful for more feature requests for it)...

Here's the Feature Request Link:

In the meantime Keni, If you have X1 Expanded you could set up an FX chain based on one of your workaround configurations

    I wish...

I don't see that I have the right fx to accomplish the simple ping-pong I'm trying to do... But I'll peruse some more...

I have managed to achieve the effect using the Sonitus by offsetting the Feedback. The delay repeats a bit long underneath as it fades, but if it gets in the way or murls things up I can use a volume envelope on the fx bus's output...

Put the delay and the sonitus surround plugin a bus
    Hi twisted6s...

I have the Sonitus Delay on a bus... I've got the effect I was after tho it was a peculiar method of achieving it. I was after having the same repeat/fade characteristics for each side so that they alternate and fade. I've set one side to Factor2 and the other to Factor 4 which gives me the correct alternation, but the first set of repeats (left/right) are fine, then the left drops a huge amount and the right continues to fade evenly. So I set the left to Feedback=63 and the right to feedback=36 and I'm now getting a reasonable left/right ping with balanced fade...

I'm not doing this in surround... Will the surround plugin even load into a stereo bus? ... and what is the purpose of having them both... I'm curious what you're thinking. Could you elaborate?

    Thanks...

    Keni

    Keni,

Twisted may be on to something here for you...
The Surround plug is one of those hidden gems the work well on any type of track. If you haven't tried it, put it on a vocal and go through the presets and experiment. Unique panning and delay type of effects can be achieved. I've used the surround plug on backing keys before to add space with some gentle auto panning it offers.

In regards to what you want to accomplish. I can see you putting the surround plug in front of the delay and using the panning to possibly get where you want to go.

    Thanks Guys...

I'll play around with Surround a bit when I have the opportunity... I did manage to get the effect I wanted with my adjustments... Tho I may not end up using it in the song (;-))....

Are you guys talking about using the surround version in a non-surround project?

The "Surround" plugin works nicely for stereo panning in stereo mode only as well. I use it sometimes for background mix placement. Not its' intended use, but it works...

Yes... It was suggested as a work around for me to achieve an effect I was doing that led me to the feature request in the opening post... A couple of simple tools would really make this plugin "sing" for me... tho I have other suggestions a bit more exotic (Still trying to duplicate an old eventide 649 (?) effect)...

I managed a work around myself before the Surround was suggested. But I'm gonna take another look at it sometime soon. I hadn't thought to use it in a stereo bus...

Interesting. I didn't even know you could do that. Must check that out.
