I tried them a few years ago when they had an intro deal. Not bad plugins IIRC.

I took advantage of this offer and got their Transontrol transient shaper plugin, which purports to be based on the highly-regarded SPL Transient Designer. In short, it was way too much work to get a free but unimpressive plugin. At least I didn't pay $49 for it.

I've been playing around with the Transcontrol plugin, hoping perhaps I just hadn't yet found the right application for it. My conclusion: I was being overly charitable in describing it as "unimpressive". Free or not, it's gonna be uninstalled. Here's a sample. First, note how the waveform changes when Transcontrol is enabled: Transients are gone - just what you'd expect IF you turned the Attack control to the left. But the Attack knob was in its default neutral position. Only the Release knob was turned up. OK, so it's a transient killer. That could still have some usefulness. But now listen to what the above clip sounds like. The first 6 seconds is with Transcontrol bypassed, the remainder is with it enabled. But you'd be able to tell even if I hadn't told you where it kicks in, because it sounds nasty. https://soundcloud.com/bitflipper/transcontrol-demo

The reverb and echo are getting good reviews on kvr. Problem is, nobody really needs another reverb, do they? I should have gone for the echoplex.

I tried the Echoplex - only downloaded and installed today, but it does seem OK to me - different (not better) to some of the others I have (my go to delays are Nomad Factory Echoes / UAD and PSP). I can see myself using this from time to time and of course it was free. Now would I EVER pay $49 - very unlikely - would I ever pay $399 for the total bundle - never, as even if I owned it I would only ever use a few of them. I think they need to look at their pricing model. If the individual plug ins were say $12.5 to $15 each, then they would almost be in no brainer territory - I'm sure they would sell loads more than they do at present. Nigel

I got the echoplex too. Sounds good. It has a useful ping-pong echo mode. I wish it had a runaway mode, the mode where you turn up the feedback control to greater than unity gain and you get those "Maggot Brain" runaway mangled echo effects. Mike Well X2 seems to be acting up today but I did get a little play time with California Mesa amp-sim before constant studders and screen flickering. As others have stated the plugs are meah, so-so. If I paid I would be not so pleased but for free it may wind up being used somewhere somehow. Who knows, might work well on bass, drums, vocals, synth's. Not at the top of my recommended plug-ins tho. More likely than not it'll wind up deleted on my next VST cleaning. Mike

But knowing what I know (and have at my disposal), meh.... I probably would not buy them again. One thing; they look cool.

Friends, Subjective info hope may be of use. Had these plugs in the shareware mode for a long time and way too overpriced to merit getting the whole set. So many that in my realm weren't useable and the single units too expensive. The granulator, ring mod, duplication on overdrive presentations, eq and brighteners that were already in my arsenal otherwise. And some that didn't seem to do anything. There are however gems. Bit posted the hard core question about the reverbs, if another was needed given what we already have, and respect to a great musician pulling in the reins on gear lust. Balanced that decision here too, and erred in the direction that another reverb was needed (whether it was or not). Endless Maya in a higher philosophy. The plate reverb is quite nice. A one trick poney, but shades of the dark smears of HOF Origami in a different way. The Digital reverb is nice as well. Above the bar for a floor stomp. Don't regret having these limited devices beside the Valhallas, Toraverb, Reverberate, etc... The distortion devices to my old ear are eq spinoffs on the same theme so all are probably not needed. The American Tweed gets the soul of all of them and cuts through the mix driven by a single coil. The 3-D and Leslie sims are good. 3-D on the first (out of 3) presets delivers some awesome presence. Chorus, flangers, compressor/limiter plugs are good but only on par with what's out there even freeware. This is however a generous deal. Idea is that you download the whole 40 plug collection and select what you want to authorize after a Facebook like. Couple points... Some are caught in a loop getting the plugin on step 2 of the Facebook process. Drifts data in favor of the company, since every time you try to submit a "like", your attempt fails and you try again. You don't get the plugin, but another "like" is submitted to the number. Therefore, they have over 4000 likes, but doesn't reveal that some poor dude has tried (as they have) a hundred times to get the process to work, liking the plug a hundred times and not getting a successful download link. Some emails/accounts are cursed for whatever reason. Nothing recommended will work by the company if you are in the step 2 cycle rut. Start another account, and registration should work properly. Some have problems getting the vst's to register all of them. Takes one crashed vst to abort anything after the rogue element. Meaning if plugin 17 out of 40 goes down, 18 to 40 may not be picked up. Fix is to go into the ini log, delete the quaranteened vst and rename it. PM whatever without the hyphen. Should flow through okay. To my battered ears, these things won't change the face of the vst landscape, but very cool. Check out the reverbs. Another rambling point... The company allows something like 5 activations (moral unpoliced company request). These are not dongle or online activations. They follow a simple serial number "activation" like Sonar. Deserves our support for not getting sucked into the dark side of paranoia that only punishes the end user. Reason I kept these things on my hard drive for so long is because they allow the shareware suite to function for a half hour before it craps out. Very generous for half an hour without noise bursts or 20 sec dropouts. Some good stuff to be had and their free offer not there forever. Best, John edited...Can't spell right even in my mother language...think it was english...
