FREE Session Drummer Quick Kit Project templates

In celebration of Drum Month, Cakewalk has put together the first ever collection of Session Drummer 3 Quick Kits. These pre-mixed project templates load right from quick start menu in all three versions of SONAR X3 without any assembly required. Open a quick kit, drop in your sequence, and you’re ready to rock with great sounding drums. Happy drumming!

    Hi, I just downloaded these and followed the directions in the readme. I get to the step where I'm asked to merge the templates...I never get a prompt to merge. I have Windows 7 64 bit, X# Producer...am I missing a step?

    It's possible that it did not prompt you to merge. Some systems do and some systems don't. It may be a user setting. Regardless, go to  C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X3 Producer\Project Templates and see if you have 65 Quick Kits there. If you do then you are golden!
     
    If you don't, go back to Project Templates.zip file that you downloaded and make sure you select C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X3 (Producer, Studio) as the destination to extract to.

    For those who have issues installing find your Project Templates folder (if you don't know where it is look in Sonar Preferences). Open up the ZIP,  within the ZIP navigate to Project Templates folder. Drag the files contained within to this folder.

    Hi guys....i have the project templates, but don't know how to access them. I assume that they will be part of the list of choices I have when I start a new project when the New Project File dialog box opens. I on;y see the track templates...how do I access the project templates?

    Just some kind of hint, anyone? Running SD3 in a normal project - no problems.

    I am opening them from the quick start menu Dan. The first message after doing that is
    "Silent bus detected
    The following tracks and buses are currently assigned to a silent hardware output. The items listed below will be silent inyour project until their outputs are reassigned to an apprpriate hardware output.
     
    Master"
     
    Inserting SD3 in a normal cwp-project as said - no problem at all.

    When I open them myself I do have to select a sound source for the master bus.


    A few projects won't trigger sounds because the gates get in the way (such as metal quick kit). If you play with the tomtoms with your mouse for instance the (moving the mouse up and down in order to increase velocity) hearing a sound can be a hit and miss affair.

    Also MIDI triggers aren't consistent across the templates I think (meaning drum pads need to be retuned to right MIDI note).
     
    Still this can be tailored to our requirements, it's free and it's good...

    But you don't get the error message as I do, right? In MY master bus the only alternatives I get for input is either "none" or "automation".

    yup I also got the "Silent bus detected" but switched it to my audio devise and had no problems.
     
    curious though, why not use pro channel compression rather than sonitus ? why ?

    I would prefer Pro Channel being used, but the basic version of Sonar does not have Pro Channel so I guess it's the target audience getting in the way.

    Studio does not include the PC compressors bundled with Producer. I am not sure there is even an option for Studio users to buy the Producer included PC modules.

    To add I hope the basic version of X4 will include the Pro Channel. It will be talked about more and featured in tutorials, and there will be an opportunity to peddle pro channel plugins to more customers on tight budgets.
