FRESH AIR FINAL MIX

This is the most current version of FRESH AIR , I added a piano track and a guitar track and then Blipp remastered the song for me .

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=961127&content=music

I think I will call this song finished and start on something new and different .
Thanks Blipp for remastering the song for me it sounds great!

The drums are panned too much to the left. Especially the snare. Which sounds like a stereo slap effect.

    Sounds a little thin, methinks.

That being said, interesting piece of propulsive background music.

I will have to recheck my settings I do know I doubled each track and each track had a left and a right , 60 left and 60 right of the same drum track .

Thin what do you mean the whole song in general after it was remastered ?
Just for the heck of it I think I will upload the version of this version before Blipp remastered it and you tell me what you think .

Thanks , I think the piano track I added gives the whole piece more movement within the song itself .
Be back in a bit with the before version of this version of Fresh Air remastered by Blipp today .

Hey James , I just remastered the song again myself this time ( version 2 ) listed  .
Let me know if it sounds thin to you now , I also set the drum panning to center on the drum fill tracks .
Maybe thats what you were hearing with the drums , let me know if it sounds right to you now, thanks.

This is slightly better in terms of thinness, but now the bass line, which is cool and should really drive the song, is a soupy clunk of low notes. It also sounds like a less spacious use of the stereo field as well.

The Haas effect is what the listener is experiencing with the delay. One way to get what you are going for is to do a 1.75k high-pass filter on the delay, so that the transients (the higher-end of the snare sound) are delays, while maintaining the snare right in the center. So this way you can get movement and liveliness without making the listener ping-pong back and forth on every snare hit. Also reduce the left delay hit a few db.

Soupy Clunk Ummm I will have to look into that maybe it was the bass instrument I switch or the EQ setting  I did in the bass track .
I'll have to check that out , I did center everything on all the drum settings .
When I listen to this song through my speakers the snare sounds centered , maybe you have some expensive speaker monitors .
This month I'm going to buy some power monitors for about $150.00 at SweetWater.

Anyway thanks for the listen , Blipp you did a nice job and I thankyou for your help but I think James is right its a bit on the thin side .
The piano track seemed somewhat bleached out after two or three listens  , wow blipp is never going to help me out again now .

Hey james , i have one simple question ... i`m very confused is there supposed to be 2 drummers in this song ... i don`t understand how a snare roll in the center back can be going on while that constant snare beat on the left is playing at the same time. I hear what jamesyoyo is saying to about the delay on the snare it bounces all over the place .
You need to get some better placement for the instruments. Here`s my suggestions the piano needs to be moved left say 36% . The drum fills sound like a different set... i was sure you used AD try to get the drums the same ... totally get rid of that bass it clunks badly and muddys everything up... the strings need to be spread over the whole field if you use channel tools on the string an use the preset More Width that should help with some separation.

Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea...

because he knows the time is short.....
    let him who hath understanding.....
reckon the number of the beast.....
for it is a human number...
    it`s number is.....

Good point I think I might delete everything I double which were all the instrument tracks.
I can see I'm running into problems by doing all of that, thanks for pointing that out.

    Re:FRESH AIR FINAL MIX 2009/08/27 03:38:18 (permalink)

Ok this is it the final Mix for my song  FRESH AIR !
I went back and started over almost deleting half the tracks that I had doubled thinking I would end up with a better sound.
Now I have one track per instrument with everything centered , I readjusted all track volume levels too .

I replayed the bass track with a different bass instrument sound  and played it differently then before which sounds better I think.

Lets put this way I spent hours redoing this song and finally remastered as good as I can get it .
Right now I think it sounds pretty good, oh I found out what was causing that rumble sound and fix that.
It was in one of the tracks , right now I don't hear  that sound James was talking about .

I just updated the soundclick file for Fresh Air and bumped myself off the charts for the second time , oh well .

    Cheers!

      SOUNDS SWEET NOW!!

Last night I had EAR BURNOUT , I woke up with a fresh set of ears today and went back and reset all my track volumes and found one more bad track and deleted that track .

After I corrected everything in Project 5 I downloaded to a Wav file and then imported into my Magix Music Studio 12 Deluxe for final mixdown .
I didn't realize it but in my Magix Music Studio 12 I have presets for Mixing & Mastering , there are three to choose from plus you can adjust from those setting for more fine adjustments in sound .

So I picked out a preset that created the best overall sound for " Fresh Air "  and mixed it down to a MP3 file then updated it on SoundClick , what a difference in sound now !

Learn something everyday when you try hard enough , all that work finally paid off .

    Check it out , cheers
    !

Thanks , I'm just glad I didn't give up on it now I can move on to something else .
Back in 1996 I recorded some songs on my old four track recorder and still had those tapes, I thought it might be fun recreating all those songs using Project 5 so thats the plan for me for the next two weeks .
Thanks for the listen and great comments on the mix !

Thanks Blipp I'm just getting back from being out for five hours today , it sure was alot of creating , tearing down , tweking and more tweking along with some hearing loss listening to it so many time over and over ,WOOOOO WEE!
Sorry I bumped off your MIX I had to go bad and delete those bad tracks and replace the first bass track with a new one plus I deleted everything I doubled that ended up creating alot of panning issues.

Thanks , I have been taking a break . This week-end I spend all day and night trying to get rid of the yearly clutter that was starting to take over .
A few more days of sorting through mail and trashing the unwanted junk I'll be in good shape , I should be able to breath and start on something new for next month without having to look at all that stuff that was cluttering up my life here at home where I create my music.

Mixing and remastering is one area I need to work on , its nice to have someone who lives in your area .
I have lived here for about six years now and love it here , I was born and raised in Florida and decided to beat the heat by moving out here .
This is where I plan on staying the rest of my life , I love the weather and scenery .

Hey I just listened to your music  , like your style of music and I like what your doing with your music .
We all need some good in our lives , you and your band are doing a great job keeping God alive with your music .
Thanks again for dropping in to say hello , cheers!
