FX Bypass in plugin window

I know an FX plugin may be bypassed in the FX bin in either track, inspector or console view.  And I am aware there is a bypass button in the plugin window that is available for VST3 plugins, but is grayed out in VST2 plugins.  It would be nice if this were available also for VST2 plugins as there are many good VST2s in use that have not been updated to VST3.  It is a bit of an interruption to the workflow while tweaking FX parameters to have to leave the FX plugin window, find the correct track strip, then find the correct plugin to bypass the plugin.  Please make the bypass button available in VST2 plugin windows.  Thanks for your time.

Isn't that version of Bypass specific to the VST3 protocol?   At least I think I recall hearing something along those lines...
