Think it really depends on what you want to accomplish with it.

I purchased it 3 years ago thinking it would solve all my drumming requirements. It didn't. The sample sets are really geared towards techno, electronica, trance, hip hop etc.... limited content for typical acoustic drum hits/kits. I find it very usefull for layering beats on top of other drum programs, adding a little zing or spice. It can be very inspirational, and in fact I think I've used Guru in all but 3 of about 12 published songs I've done.

Workflow wise Guru has been a bit hit and miss for me. It is feature packed as far as mangling hits and beats goes but it lacks manual control over slicing, it's all automatic and sometimes does not translate well. It relies fully on external control like a DAW's piano roll editor or mapped keyboard for composing/arranging in a full song fashion so there is alot of mouse clicking back and forth between Guru and your DAW to build a full rhythm song.

Regardless of its flaws, it's still one of my top vsti plugins.
