Interesting you should mention that...I'm considering combining updated versions of the current tips, with updated tips from the first book, to create the Mondo Gigantic Huge Book of SONAR Tips ...

That's a great idea, and I'll certainly get it.

Sonar Platinum, EWHO/D, Spitfire, Miroslav, Pianoteq, ....,  Kurzweil.

Cool tip, Craig.
I copied, and downloaded the "pitch bend scale" picture.
Good to have at hand when trying to do this.
All the best.
Edited for spelling.

Hopefully you will continue in SOS, or someone from Cakewalk will take your place?

Add random deviations in Melodyne works well for slightly changing the pitch of the snare drum.

Although I am a hardcore SONAR user, I have not been an official part of Cakewalk, or involved in their decision-making processes. The writing for Sound on Sound is a personal arrangement I have with the magazine that does not involve Cakewalk, so I'll continue writing the column for as long as SOS wants it.

BTW I’ve already decided what next week’s tip will be, and I think you’ll really enjoy it :)

Sorry it was late, it took me a while to render and upload the video.

BTW with SONAR, I've found what works best is to type in the lower tempo (in the box toward the right of Tempo View) where you want the "time trap" to begin, then type the value for the tempo to which you want to return. Then you can just type in different numbers for the first value until you find the right amount of drama

Craig, with the Cakewalk store now closed, is there any way to get either of the two books you wrote (SONAR Tips and EQ Explained)? Was hoping you might be able to offer them through your web site, but haven't seen anything (the link goes back to the Cakewalk store and the closure announcement).

My web site isn't set up for e-commerce, but I'm trying to figure out how to make them available. Don't want to see them die.
  • Some good news: Sound on Sound wants me to continue writing the column for at least a while longer.
  • More good news: Because quite a few people are migrating to Studio One, I offered to port the Gibson Bass Expansion Pack presets over to Presence XT if possible (I'm pretty sure it will be possible, although there will obviously be differences). I asked if they would be willing to give the Soundset away to anyone who had purchased the Rapture expansion pack, and they said they'd be happy to do it. I didn't see any reason for people to have to buy the same expansion pack twice.
  • And some possibly good news: All the content I've created that's been sitting on the shelf (like the Chord Library) because Cakewalk's management wasn't interested in content hasn't gone anywhere. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it available, maybe at a nominal fee through reverb.com.
