FYI disk speeds Sata 2,3 7200 1T

Ran disk speed test for kicks

Sata 3 OCZ 120 342 mb/sec
Sata 2 OCZ  60 158 mb/sec
WDC 1T 7200      71 mb/sec

I have system and programs on the Sata 3. All Sonar data and pagefile on Sata 2. All data and system copy on the WDC.

Discovered I am not getting the best speed. Sata 3 supposed to be 500+, Sata 2 supposed to be 250+. Not too worried cause it runs so well anyway but have inquiry to OCZ and the board manufacturer, AsRock.

I am sure everyone else here knows what you are talking about. I assume "OCZ" indicates you are using a solid state drive, but it is not clear what you are testing seek, sustained read, sustained write etc. And that company actually makes several solid state drives, and without knowing the exact model number it is difficult to guess how close you are coming to "optimum" speed. OCZ does post the specs of most of their drives on their website. Be aware that no drive of any sort can get the full (transfer?) speed of an interface specification if it exceeds the speed of the drive itself.

FWIW, Those benchmarks don't sound quite right...
If you connect the same SSD to both a SATA-II and SATA-II controller, you should get the same speed either way (unless the drive is fast enough to saturate the SATA-II bus).
 
Or... lets say you connect one of the newer SATA-III conventional HDs to both a SATA-II and SATA-III HD controller...
You should see the same speeds in both cases... as the HD isn't close to saturating the SATA-II bus.

Sata 3 is connected to sata 3 controller, sata 2 is connect4ed to sata 2 controller. Didn't think about connecting the sata 3 disk to a sata 2 controller or vice versa. Maybe it would be the same. None of them are running at what OCZ claims. No reply from either ocz or asrock so far.
