Fabfilter...fan

After viewing a bunch of videos I decided not to wait for a Fabfilter sale and pulled the trigger for the Mastering bundle.  Man, I love these plugins.  I've got a full suite of Izotope plugs and like them well enough but Fabfilter is just in a completely different league when it comes to workflow and ease of use FOR ME.  I never "really" grasped the whole concept of multiband compressors before ... I sure do now.  The EQ lets be find and eliminate problem freqs so much easier.  The limiter is just more intuitive to me as well as the compressor.

Anyway, I can't say enough about these plugs.  If you don't have them at least check out the videos on the Fabfilter site...awesome stuff!

I have a couple of fabfilter plugs (Saturn 2 and Timeless 2) and agree that they are laid out well.  I will probably pick them up as I can find sales or used ones.  They are are good but not that much better than others alternatives at their full price in my opinion.

I think if you're truly serious about your mixes and your mastering, the Fabfilter plugins (esp ProQ2 + Pro C2) should be considered as part of the equation. They are the best and most used plugins I use on most tracks. I especially like the ability to adjust the latency usage, depending how they are being utilized. (Natural - - -> Linear Phase)
Auto Level adjustment . . . simply amazing feature.

Definitely the best way to get these is the educational discount.

Teach at a local music store for a few months and buy them that way.

    Alternatively, teach algebra. :-)

I have not purchased them yet, but I feel sure the educational discount is your best bet.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Don't believe they do that, but the latest Essentials bundle is pretty ... essential.

Although they don't do custom bundles, once you are a customer, you get a discount on the other listings. They show you a discount for everything at first, but when you un-select what you don't need, you see the discount decrease.

When you see one of the things you want on for a good price, it can be worth purchasing to get you foot in the door and see your own pricing for the other items. Then either go for it, or wait for them to com around on a sale, and get another little bit off as an existing customer.

The 3rd part offers can be better than their own, but once you are a customer, they then seem to be better offers from Fab

I bought a small bundle a while ago (the EQ, compressor and reverb) and I have to say they're among my favorite ever plugins. I point blank refuse to use any other EQ now unless I'm specifically after the tone of a quirky analog one. I find it so much easier to shape the sound with them. They have so many cool features that I can't do without now, like soloing bands to hear exactly what you're targeting. I also love the super steep slopes you can get with the bell curves on the EQ, almost square. They're great for targeting very specific regions, like cutting out harshness.

The compressor is great as well, kind of like a compression swiss army knife. Again, it's great to be able to solo only the stuff that's going over the threshold so you can hear exactly what you're compressing.

Love the reverb too. Definitely not an all-round "go-to" since it sounds quite different to most reverbs, but amazing sounding nonetheless.

I wish all plugins were designed as well as Fabfilter.
