wow I really like those vocals towards the end. It's very inventive, but I confess to not having heard the original, so I don't know how close you played this as a cover.

Your performances on the instruments is pretty stellar. The vocal mixing really does stand out.

Again, not knowing the original, for me your mix might use more bass guitar. It was pretty buried most of the time, but I remember '90's rock being on a lot of ADAT's so maybe that was the original sound?

    great job James.

    James,

Fantastic track.    The backing track is really well performed, mixed and definitely has an AIC vibe.   On top of that, you managed to capture the overall vocal style and attitude of Layne Staley.   Huge thumbs up!!!

Nice one James! The chorus definitely evokes the classic Staley/Cantrell harmony sound. I liked it!

Nice job - definitely in the spirit of Alice In Chains, especially the vocal.  The mix sounds good to my ears.  This song could have been on one of their albums back in the 90's, when rock and roll was still alive.

It is an original track.  And upon your suggestion I did up the bass in the current mix.

Thanks LF. Since I can't sing anymore I really had a struggle to get this sounding decent.

Been awhile since we heard from you James, trust all is well with you.

Your usual quality production, I must be hearing the Bass tweaked version as the bass is clear and present here.

    Thanks for sharing.

AIC is not on my favorite list, but I know they use weird and bizarre vocal harmonies.  I like your work here though.  The guitar work and vocal arrangements are admirable as is the mix and overall production.

Hey, WOW!!! Don't pay the ransom, YoYo's back in town!!!

It's really great to see you back around on the forum, James!

Killer job on this cool, dark rocker with a definite AIC vibe.  Great writing and performances, super vocals and harmonies, kick a$$ modern metal guitar tone, nice solo and a punchy mix that sounds perfect for the genre.

Super stuff, brother!  Have a great night and don't be a stranger!

I love AIC, therefor, I love this.  One thing I have learned over the years is that you have a chameleon like voice that can adapt to whatever style you're singing.  Keep up the good work, and I hope to hear you around here more often.

    Hi James,

Good to see ya back. Thanks for taking some of the mid range edge off of the mix. It would have been a potential ear killer for me if you hadn't done that. I think you have that dialed in just right.

I remember you were using the IK mastering plugs? They seem to be working really well for you.Nice work here.

Impressive...  I think you've really nailed the AIC vibe.  Nice wide guitars, good clarity, and a short but sweet solo (loved the tone).   But for me the layered vocals really bring it home.
