Factory Yoyo presents: "Victory", a song for Philip

A little ditty about faith while dealing with the impossiblities of understanding Life. A song dedicated to Philip and his family as they try to make sense of it all.

Since he inspired it, I used a lot of Philip's motifs: kids vocals, prog rock patterns, slinky Moogs, positive choruses.

I wish him and everyone of you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thanks James!  This is extremely powerful, heartfelt, comforting, and all-around fun-listening!  I'll treasure this always!

I'll always cherish your outlandish vocal stack magic and message!

Very cool song James. I like how everything sits together. Especially that wimpy snare! ;) Just kidding! Actually, I just put my headphones on (hd 280s) and it sounds even betterer. Maybe to much reverb on the vox during the verses. It's really cool during the long notes.

Sounds good in my phones though my right ear is only functioning at about 10%.  Infections reign since surgery, little, aggravating ones.  This tune really captures Philip's style.  I was surprised at the way you did a YoYo/Philip production here.  Some really nice sections in this tune that really captivated me!  I too hope that whatever Philip and family are going through is getting better.  Fine job, JYoYo.

Hi James. Very nice of you and the homage to style is perfect as said above. I love that the positive energy and flow of the song only get embellished not overtaken.  The break with the moog at 2:25 is very cool. This is my favorite from you by a longshot.

When I heard about this tragedy from others via e-mail, I was numbed by the news. I did not know how to react, or how anyone could react to such an unspeakable tragedy... Let alone, even begin to imagine what it would be like to be involved in any way, even on the periphery. It was difficult for me to concentrate on or enjoy the song because the underlying subject mater is so disturbing to me personally.

All you need is love, just ask the Beatles?

    James,

Cool song, message and a fine dedication.

I hear some Cheap Trick in here, the chord progressions and vocals.   Very good.

Wow!! As always James... excellent work.

I wish I could write like this. What I like about your songs is that every verse or chorus, or even within them, you keep the listener on edge... "anything" can be coming around the corner and it's always pleasant surprises!

    Hi, James,

I finally was able to get back in the studio to listen to this, and it really sounds amazing!

I love how you can cram so many wonderful layers and textures into your stuff, and still come up with such a clean, spacious, fresh sounding mix.  Excellent songwriting and instrumental performances, and your vocals on this are truly spectacular.

Fantastic song, both inspirational and uplifting, great stuff, buddy!

Beautiful sentiment here, James. Song and production are very reminiscent of a popular Chicago band (used to play at our high school dances), Styx.
