If you want to fad out all your clips, highlight them all then place your cursor at the top right of any of the clips until it changes into a triangle. This is the fade tool. Click and drag to desired length. Right click to change fade type.

My preferred way to fade out a song is to go to the master track and right click to apply an envelope. Select Bus Output Volume and then double click the volume envelope line to apply nodes which you can drag around.

Put a volume envelope on the master bus (expecting all your tracks/stems go through the master bus, which is a common practice).

Using "process >audio" is not recommendable in this case anyway, because it's destructive.

If you have directed all the tracks to master bus, and use that as the export source it should work, there's something wrong in your settings (tracks or export settings) if it doesn't.

Try automating a sub-bus instead of the master bus.

I have a similar newbie question. I want to fade in and/or out a single VST instrument track. I'm using a single combined audio/midi instrument track which I prefer working with. Can I fade in or out without bouncing it to audio first, or without splitting the track into separate audio/midi tracks and using an envelope on the midi?

You don't need to bounce in order to apply a volume automation envelope to the audio track. Volume automation generally works better on audio tracks than on MIDI tracks.

Good replies from everyone. It's just one thing I want to ad though, don't create a fade out on your mix if you are to have it mastered at a later stage as mastering compression etc might conflict with the fade. If a mix is to be mastered later it's usually a good idea to leave the fades untouched until the mastering stage after the final limiter/clipper/maximizer (well maybe before a hard-clipper to let the short transients which would have been overs still have some impact when they are below clipping stage but it still will alter the feel at the end just a little).

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.
