Fader Automation not working- any geniuses available?

I've looked at previous similar issues. I am not in Offset Mode. When I enable Write Parameters to record the volume envelope on a single track, the envelope is created and editable. However, it acts as though the Read Parameter button is not enabled, though it clearly is. If I enable the Write Parameter natively, which includes Pan, and I change both fader and pan during playback, both envelopes are recorded but only the Pan changes parameters and the fader does not change at all. This happens only on certain tracks and in certain projects, with no rhyme or reason why it works selectively but happens in virtually every project I record at least once.

E.G.- Random new project has 10 tracks recorded back to back, all guitar with no changes in recording input, cables, output, settings or anything else, all at -6Db on the fader. I then go back to add effects and get a mix. I enable Write Parameter for track 1, record volume envelope, stop the track then disable Write Parameter and play the track back to ensure the envelope is functioning properly. This works fine until say, track 4, in which the new envelope is present like the prior 3 tracks, but the fader will not move. Proceed to track 5 and it works again until track 9 and gets the same issue. Track 10 works ok. So I now have 2 tracks where fader automation doesn't work and 8 where it does and I can delete and/or re-record the envelopes on the tracks that work as often as I like and they will keep working, but the ones that don't just will not. I can choose to A: record another track and hope the recording is just as flawless AND hope that the automation will work this time, B: keep creating new tracks and painstakingly recreate every effect detail and all settings and copy the original clip and paste in the new track until it WILL automate properly because if I clone it, it is guaranteed to keep failing (HUGE PIA) or C: curse loudly, throw things and give up.

Editing the envelope doesn't cause it to suddenly work either, though if I am not playing back and just click different times within the clip that I'm trying to automate, the fader DOES move to where it is supposed to as per the envelope- it just will not do it during playback even if I click to move to different spots in the clip while playing. All things being intentionally equal, this is a mystery to me. Has anyone else seen this or am I a fluke? Coincidentally, I'm having another issue where, upon launching X3 and after waiting for VST scan to complete- I open almost ANY project to work on and the project will not play until I launch the project of Cee-Lo Green's "F*&K YOU" on top of it and play a measure or two, then close it leaving the original project open which will then play as it should. I wish that was a joke because I'd find it funny except I'm dead serious on that one.

Running Windows 7x64, Sonar X3e using Roland Octa-Capture as audio.
