Fader Slipping While Holding Mouse Curser (2017.04 & 05)

I just noticed this in 2017.04 ***Occurs In Track View Inspector Strips***

Edit for 2017.05 ***Occurs in Track View Inspector Strips AND Console View Bus & Master Strips***

While playing a project song I move a MIDI track volume fader down from 101 to 80 and stop, but still holding the mouse button down.

I expect the fader to stop but instead it continues to fall to infinity on its own. I can't imagine why this would be normal behavior.

This does not happen in Console View.

Are you saying that the mouse continues to control the fader if you keep holding down the mouse button?  Isn't that to be expected?

The way I read it the fader continues to move downward while the mouse has stopped (even though the button is still depressed).

i've seen the same thing. it's as if the sensitivity of the fader is too high so that you overshoot your mark...

I wonder if that is potentially linked to mouse pointer acceleration, but even then should stop on the final mouse position.

I did experience something similar but with Console faders when the battery on my wireless mouse was dying.

something like an accessibility setting where holding the mouse button down for a period of time causes the scrolling. i see it from time to time in documents, browser etc.

^^^^ This - if it is a battery powered mouse. Low battery levels create all sorts of weird behaviour

I can duplicate this. I have a Kensington track ball. If I click on a fader and move it down slightly, the fader will continue moving down without touching the ball for as long as I hold the left button. If I then press the shift key (while holding the mouse button), the fader slows down.

If this is a bug, I would like to submit it as a feature request. It would be nice if it would work going up.

In my experience yesterday, it also did it going up, but in no way is it a desired effect. FREAKY is more like it.

Today I am unable to reproduce it in any project so I'm calling it a fluke that may or may not ever happen again.

I'm changing the title to more accurately fit the scenario.

It's back and reproduceable in several projects on both MIDI and AUDIO tracks.

What: Fader "slipping" on it's own to maximum or minimum level

    Where: Inspector Console strip

When: Moving the fader to a different level while holding the mouse button down *only when song is in PLAY mode*, not when song is stopped

    Why: You tell me

It happens here with 2 different Logitech wireless mouses (M187 & M325) and the built in touch pad.
I'm using an Alienware laptop 17 R3 running Windows 10 Home so it could be something in my particular system.

Did you try disabling the touch pad while you have a mouse connected?  I have seen some spurious cursor movements occasionally when both have been enabled on my laptop.  Mostly web browser stuff though, never Sonar.

Touchpad auto-disables when a mouse is detected.

In 2017.05 it also happens in Console View Bus & Master Strips so I've edited the OP.
