Faderport 8.5.3, and X1: appears to be working now. Virtual MIDI ports were the culprits

Have not used the Faderport for many months. It would regularly act skitzo when opening some Sonar projects: fader moving,....

Would often have to have to remove the FP as a control surface and restart sonar. So quit using it.

And it would not save presets, in the 32 bit version of Sonar, windows 7 32. Presets were saved using W7 64, and Sonar 8.5.3 64.
-----------------
Been changing the studio and evaluating all hardware and software for redemption, or not.

Connected the FP to computer.
Opened Sonar 8.5.3
Enabled the FP midi driver
Added FP as a control surface
Fader and pan control worked, but a bit jerky
No response from the buttons.
When clicking the buttons for mute, solo,.. in sonar the FP buttons would light.

Checked for updated software.
I had installed the 1.3.3 firmware in an attempt to fix the issue described above.
So I started the process for installing 1.3.5.

Stopped the MIDI over Lan, and Loopbe services as instructed.

Pressed the 3 buttons and connected the USB cable, and the wrong lights were blinking.  Tried again.  No joy.

I had a short cable connected to a generic extension. I changed this to a single, heavy duty cable with gold plated connectors.

Pressed 3 buttons, connected the cable and smiled.

Clicked next,... And all went well.

Started Sonar 8.5.3
Fader and pan control worked smoothly
No response from the buttons.

I checked for midi signals with a midi tool: all buttons were transmitting.

It occurred to me it may be one of the virtual midi devices was interferring.

So, I disabled  Loopbe, Midi-Over-Lan, and all the Maple midi ports, and the FP ports.

Removed FP as a control surface.

Closed Sonar, Opened sonar.

Enabled the FP ports, added FP as a control surface and was rewarded with happiness.
All buttons performed as expected.

Then I enabled each of the other ports, and tested. All good.

Closed Sonar, Opened sonar. Still good.

Closed Sonar, restarted computer. Opened Sonar. Still good.

-------------------
Opened Sonar X1 and disabled all non-hardware midi ports. Restarted Sonar X1.
Enabled only the FP ports, added as control surface. And was still happy.

========================
I have had the erratic fader movement when opening older projects in Sonar 8.5.3.

I disable all the virtual midi stuff.

Restart Sonar add the FP and then the other ports and all is well again.

I can only afford about $20 but I'll let you ship it free to Australia for me. That's the best I can do. Please don't take too long thinking it over cj as I've got others thInking about my offer.
