Beautiful melody, and solid mix.  Nothing wrong with your production.  Having said that, I'm not particularly fond of the electronic drums.  In this case, an acoustic kit might have worked better to give it a more organic feel.  At least, I'd replace that cymbal that comes in on the first beat of the measure with a more natural sounding cymbal.  This is just my opinion.  If you like the sounds that you are using, then you're good to go.  You definitely are very talented.

    All the best,

    Hey Lynn,

I'm a little torn with the drums...I love electronic sounding stuff, but I'd put them on anything, even where they're not the best fit.  After a very crappy evening (but it could have been worse of course), you don't know how much I needed and appreciate your compliment.  You've cheered me up a bit man!

What a lovely melody, great playing.

It's so subjective, but I think a nice laid back acoustic drum beat would complement the piano.

    Anyway, loved the tune!

I too agree with all that's been said. This is a beautiful piece of music, Donny. I love the melodies and the way everything goes together. Great writing and sound choices. I just think the whole electronic drums thing kills the mood for this particular piece. Like (and I mean no offense) if I could mute them, I'd enjoy this 100% more. It's just such an awesome piece of music...I feel it deserves a realistic drum kit going on...but that's just me. Well done man...thanks for sharing. Awesome piano skills by the way! :)

Awesome mix as is!!!  Listen'd twice!

I can't hear much bass-guitar or low end (yet).  Crank that bass-line up bro and this mix is perfect for my skating cravings!

    Hey Danny,

Thanks VERY much for the listen and critique.  I'm going to stick in a track of acoustics on this and see whats up that way.  And thanks for the kind words on the melodies and playing...that means alot man.  My five year old little girl is a test.  If she tunes in while I'm putting things together and she starts humming it, that's a good sign.

I find I rarely disagree with my buddy Danny, and I think he hit this one right on the head.  The perc track is holding back a lovely composition that was beautifully played.  Even with that, I still really enjoyed it.

I was just wondering about you the other day, thinking you hadn't been around in a long while. Welcome back!  I remember your velvety voice and I was sorry not to hear it on this track.  :)

Anyway, I probably wouldn't have thought about the drums if everyone hadn't mentioned them.  So...whatever.  lol  This IS beautiful.  I'm not real impressed with the piano sound, so I'm surprised it's Ivory.  But maybe I'm just being too picky.   The piece is lovely and very well arranged, IMO.

This is an exceptionally beautiful piece of music. Personally I would love to hear this without the drums or just with muted bongo or something similar in the background (Fair Drums!) but that's just me! A great piece of music.

It's been a few days since I've heard this piece, and it was refreshing to hear the change in drums.  The bass drum really has some snap to it on my monitors, which would work if there was something to counterbalance it like a vocal or another instrument.  Still, really nice.  You may inspire me to post an old instrumental I wrote.

That's actually a Roland R-8 kick drum that I used to use ALOT years ago.  I've just tweaked a little more.  I cut the snare at the beginning and pitched the kick and snare up just a little...the logic being the fairies should dance to drums pitched a little higher.

Much, much better IMO with the acoustic drums!  It seems that they are just a hair behind the beat.  Nice work.

I listened to the first post, now I'm listening to the second post. It is much better imo. The snare needs some tweaking to give more oomph. That's purely subjective though. Maybe change the hi hat to a ride in certain sections.

This is a great bit of work and very well done. I think the beginning piano part is from another song but I may be wrong. I know I'll go crazy tring to figure it out. lol!

    Very well done!
