What a gorgeous piano! Very Baroque! Any idea on the manufacture date? It would be great if you could post some audio of the result if possible? I'm sure others would love to hear it. Pretty cool......

    It's a pretty cool piano.

I've built better in my sleep. Of course, upon waking, there was nothing to show for it. Unfortunate, that.

What a wonderful opportunity! I hope you have smooth sailing with it. At first look I thought it had to be European. If it sounds as good as it looks it will be stunning. Thanks for letting us know.

Mark may remember that story.. all that was missing was a vanishing man in a canoe + a bloke making tunnels under the house...

looks nice but double up on the wrapping for it.. and hopefully it sounds as good as it looks

That is the most beautiful looking piano I've ever seen! If it sounds as good as it looks, thenyour ears are ready for a treat.

I would love a recording project like that!!! Looks like you have a lot of cool toys to play with while recording.

At my little studio, we don't even have a real piano.. everything is Midi (inputed by my casio keyboard or the Korg Midi controller).

Mike if you don't mind the temperature of the light is tungsten. You have the camera on daylight. You can fix this in PS if you use a filter. I hope you don't see this as presumptuous. The pictures are too nice to be seen in the wrong light.

Sure it looks spiffy, but how does it sound? Most of the dolled up pianos I have seen (Most of them restored Steinways) are nothing to write home about in terms of sound. They cant match the modern performance models.

    Yikes!

What was the manufacturer thinking? Pianos didn't exist in the Baroque/Rococo era, so decorating one to look like it came from then is simply weird.

Around the turn of the (20th) century, pianos were common, like stereo systems or TV's today. Pianos also had, then as now, a tendency to be thought of more as furniture than as musical instruments, intended to show off wealth of money rather than wealth of talent. One of our local museums has some samples of old-school ornate pianos, virtually unusable as musical instruments even when they were new.
