Farewell to the King - new original song with classical guitar and drums.
I just bought my first classical guitar a couple weeks ago and got inspired to write this classical flatpicked piece. I was listening to King Diamond instrumental pieces at the time and decided to go for it! http://tindeck.com/listen/ynwl Any comments welcome. This is just a rough draft, I need to beef up the bass guitar I know :) It's currently a soft synth.

Thank you Chappel for the listen, and the nice comment :) I have a unconventional song structure of A-B-C-D-E (no sections repeated), but it works in this case I think.

Very impressive. I like that wall-of-sound production. Timing, playing - excellent. A very small nit: The intro picking guitar needs a little more bottom but as the tune progresses it fits perfectly. If possible, maybe an automated highpass eq that starts with no filtering at all and then the slider goes up a bit?

Awesome! A nit would be that in the intro there is quite of bit of squeak and if you could filter that out a bit. The arrangement is stuning and guitar playing is also superb.

I just bought a T-bar for stereo micing. This "scratch" recording was done with a $40 Behringer omni mic only - very surprisingly. I plan on using 1 Oktava MK-319 and 1 Blue Bluebird in X/Y fashion. Also I'll most likely go to Slate drums instead of Superior as I have here.

Yep, I heard that too haha. Good thing this is not the final takes :) Not sure how that happenned, but I'll get rid of it! Thank you and very happy you enjoyed the song. I've never done anything close to this genre before, only electric guitar stuff before.

Very nice job on this... so that's rough, huh? Well, I thought it sounded great. Impressive use of percussion and strings for the backing, and the guitar picking was truly impressive.

Thank you much Philz. Not sure about the drums being impressive, but I think they fit the song. It's "rough" only because I will take more time (now that it's written) to get a perfect tone with my mics. There's really no problem with any of the takes other than that and the um glitch during the intro. I do like this 1-minute mic tone, but I can still improve it :)

:O How long have you been playing guitar? I'm an aspiring young musician, and this just seems so out of my scope. Not to mention, the mix is brilliant.

This sounds great. Love the acoustic guitar work. It is amazing how getting a new instrument just sets those creative juices flowing. I really enjoy listening to this. Thanks for sharing, Tom
