Fast Bounce Option Question
When bouncing audio tracks, I have been carefully making sure that the "Fast Bounce" is not selected, assuming that things might not happen if I selected the "Fast Bounce" option. However, in reading the X1 help files, it suggests Make sure Fast Bounce is checked, otherwise the bounce process will take as long as it takes to play your selected track data in real time. Usually, you also want to check 64-bit Mix Engine. So is the only advantage I have been getting from not using the "Fast Bounce" just extra time to get another cup of coffee, or is there some real reason not to use it (insert sheepish grin here), justifying all of those hours waiting for a slow render process?

I've not noticed a difference in quality using fast bounce/slow bounce. Try the fast bounce...it shouldn't make a difference at all. As for the 64 bit mix engine, I can't use that for some reason. When I bounce using that, I get clicks, pops, artifacts and sometimes....missing audio or just an export of noise without music.

The "make sure" there refers to speed of bounce down. If you don't want it to take as long as it does to play the project use the fast bounce. You can not use the fast bounce if you have external hardware audio being generated(ex. midi track playing an external hardware synth) Most VSTs(at least all the ones I have now) perform properly with the fast bounce now. (There was a problem some of the older versions of East West products not bouncing down properly but those have been corrected with subsequent engine updates)

The only time I've had to bounce down in Real Time is when I've got a fairly complex project, along with an instance of BFD2 running, still in its MIDI state. Once this is frozen, then fast bounce never fails.

Everything is exactly the same in Fast Bounce, except there are a handful of instruments that don't get along with it well. BFD2 as mentioned above can be problematic in Fast Bounce, I sometimes get it cutting off long sounds like crashes and so on.

Also Omnisphere and Trilian say not to use fast bounce. I'm not sure if they're OK with it or not - I just don't use it ;-) Another one is Aether - if you render with oversampling (and why wouldn't you) - might not like fast bounce. The very worst that can happen is there are some pops/clicks/missed samples in your bounce - so you'd do it over again. There's definitely nothing lost by *not* using fast bounce ;-)

It's ALWAYS percussion pieces that don't play well with fast bouncing. Kick/Snare/Toms seem to be ok.
