Actually, there's a reason I would like this. Without the favicon, on my Firefox bookmarks all my Cakewalk links inherit KVRAudio.com's favicon and that's kinda annoying.

[EDIT - and hey, even Steinberg do it... you don't wanna feel left out do you Bakers?]

I always say, I manage to learn something new in this forum almost every day. I honestly had never heard the term "favicon" before. Man...little things like this are making it very hard for me not to feel old!

the wierd thing is yesterday I would have said... hey they've had a favicon for a year or more... but now it's gone from my browser.

It was a red meter bar graphic.

Maybe they lost it in maintenance.

Yeah, they've done it for the main site (www.cakewalk.com), they've just forgotten to add it to the (forum.cakewalk.com) pages.

The problem is, as soon as you clear your browser history, they all disappear until you revisit that site again. Or is there a method to make them stick?

Hmmmm, just visited your site and didn't see any favicon other than IE...

It is useful. It is smart to have for consumers.

"Smart" in what way? Am I going to make any buying decisions on favicon v. no favicon? Nope.

Doesnt cakewalk realize how "cool" they are?

Ergo, one without a favicon isn't "cool"?

Not to hijack, but maybe you guys can help me with something-- my "favicons" only stick around for the first day or so after creating the favorite, then it goes back to the standard IE "E" logo. How can I force IE to display the favicons all the time?

I have the cakewalk Icon set in Firefox to take me directly to the forum site and log me in.

I edited the Firefox "cakewalk Home Page" tab by right clicking it and going down to properties. I then pasted the Sonar forums URL there Now everytime I click the Firefox Cakewalk Tab, I am taken to the Sonar forum and I'm logged in.

Peace

Peace,

My vision is not that great, and favicons help me find things quickly in my too-populated Links bar. I still have the red meter thing favicon on my laptop, but I accidentally wiped out my favicons on my desktop and now I can't get it back.

How about posting instructions on how to make a Favicon! If it's easy it shouldn't take up much room. I have a couple sites I'd love to have one on!

C'mon Lance! Give it up to the peeps!

top left in the menu. Just drop in a suitable .gif or .jpg, and upload it to the root (or the root of the html folder) of the server, and add the line

< link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="/favicon.ico" >

to the head section of your index.html (this should strictly speaking not be necessary, but does make it show up a *lot* faster - if you change it again, allow for up to a day for it to change - urgh, that's caching for ya)

This is an old thread. I see Cakewalk have a favicon for the main site, but still not for the forums.
It's very easy to just pop the same or similar favicon into the forum root folder, if they have access to it.
It's no big deal, but makes it a little easier for finding the forums among our bookmarked favorites.
