Favorite Short Guitar Solo

(And I don't mean "short compared to Free Bird"!)

Baba O'Riley - The Who (Pete Townshend)

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Mick Ronson was the master of them, more like melodic interludes really.

His one on his own version of 'Slaughter on 10th Avenue' I particularly liked.

Yeah, when they only get 4 bars or so, and don't just play a few fills, it's rather impressive to me.

Packs a whallop, IMO in such a short time. Or maybe it's just me. Mebee it's not short but I always want more, so it seems too short.

Just about anything by Wilko, my favourite 'non mainstream' guitarist - although as much for facial expressions and entertainment value as anything else.

Norman Watt-Roy on bass is a bit tasty as well. I got to see these supporting the Stranglers last year. Fabulous.....

OT - we watched the 'Game of Thrones' box set recently and Wilko was in it, playing an executioner. He certainly looks the part these days.

short guitar solo... isn't that an oxymoron ?

A short guitar solo according to my definition would be a "fill" .....  and yeah, on that front, there are many great ones.... too many to count.

In one of the most dreadful concoctions ever...Band On The Run...right after Sir Paul sings "thought of giving it all away", the guitarist plays a tiny little crinky...crink...crunk thingy I just eat up with a spoon. I believe it's all of five notes long. Then, of course, there's the little super hi harmonic like fill that Joe Walsh plays in Hotel California.
