Feature Request: QuadCapture Control Panel Features Wanted in VS-700

Anyone wish we had a chance we can get some of the features of the Graphic control panel in the new Quad Capture?   In case you haven't seen it, it's at about 1:40 in the following video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Sb1ES7nyFs

For example the moving LED indicators for each channel and the compressor GUI would be great.

Is this a feature request in Cakewalk's control or something we would need to contact Roland with?

Cheers,

The QuadCapture is a Roland product, so please contact them for feature requests.

Sorry, Seth.  Maybe I wasn't clear.  I was looking to get the features already found in the QuadCapture Graphic control panel added to the VS-700 control panel (so an upgrade the VS-700 control panel).  Shouldn't this thread belong the in the VS-700 forum as it would be VS-700 users who would be asking for the feature request?

    Cheers,

Ah, good point, Jayson. I'll move it back to the VS-700 forum and re-title the thread to clear up any confusion.

As for requesting these features in the VS-700's control panel, how do you think they got into the QuadCapture.

I would say send requests to both us and Roland for this and any other VS-700 feature requests.

Thanks, Seth.  I re-read what I wrote and can see where I was confusing.

No worries. I think it would certainly be cool to have the type of graphical feedback of the compressors that the QuadCapture has, as well as input meters in the VS-700R's control panel.

Hey Seth...I know this has been brought up before, but is there any possibility that the VS700R will get some of the features that the QuadCapture has such as multiple output mixes and a decent reverb for vocal monitoring situations?  I have some very nice headphone monitoring equipment that allows each musician to perform some level of his/her earphone mix that is not being used at this point.  I and my clients are missing this feature since I moved to the V700 Studio setup.  If it is at all possible, how/where do I (we) make this request and get a response one way ot the other?  Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    Swizzle,

Unfortunately, its not possible for the VS-700R to get multiple output mixes and reverb like the OctoCapture because those things are down to hardware (actual DSP chips).

I guess some minor consolation is that you can add on an OctoCapture to the VS-700 and tak advantage of those extra monitor DSPs as well as the reverb.

Swizzle.  I use the VS700 and get reverb or echo to my artists headphones using any reverb plugin.  If you're interested, I'll send the info.

    Hi Seth!

Thanks for the quick feedback; I've been trying to get an answer to this question for some time.  Though very disapointing, maybe the OctoCapture could be the answer.  Are you saying that if I link the OctoCapture to the VS700R, that I can send tracks and inputs (such as vocal) to various outputs (as well as the main stereo mix) in the direct mixer to allow use of an outboard headphone mixer (I have a headphone monitor system that allows up to six input sources for headphone mix during tracking)?  You know how some musicians want their own mix during tracking.   Thanks in advance for your most comforting words.

Exactly. The new VS driver combines the VS-700R and OctoCapture into one agregate device, so you would be able to use the (combined) five monitor mixes and use the OctoCapture's monitor outs to add reverb to those who need it. I'm not sure if you can add a QuadCapture to a VS-700R in this way, though.

Hi Seth...looks like I'm not the only one up late tonight.  Your reply sounds very interesting; looks like it may be a reasonable solution to my problem.  However, your last sentence confused me; it almost seemed like you contradicted what you said in the previous sentence.  I'm probably just interpreting it incorrectly.  I think what you said is that I can, via the OctoCapture connected to the VS700R, achieve some level of input and output mix, albiet only using the OctoCapture.  Did I miss something?  Thanks!

With the VS-700R and OctoCapture in use together you can use the I/O from either unit together, freely.

Thanks Seth...this may be the answer to my problem.  Can more than one OctoCapture be added to this arrangement?  That's my last question for tonight...thanks for your time.  I'm going to finish this glass of red and hit the sack.

Sorry, no, only one OctaCapture can be added to a VS-700R. However, you can use two OctaCaptures together without a VS-700R.

Okay...that may not be a major problem anyway.  Just having better monitoring ability is worth more than adding another OctoCapture; I can work around that.  Thanks much for your time.
