Feel Good Inc Loopstation cover recorded on Sonar X1

Good morning from rainy Sussex in the UK,

I thought you might like to see this video of Josie, a 17 year-old music student, recording this in our studio at the weekend. It's a precision performance with no less than 20 individual parts including 5 synth loops, 5 beatbox percussion loops, 2 guitar loops, 6 vocal loops + vocals and guitar. All filmed and recorded live:

Video Link: Feel Good Inc Loopstation cover

If you’re interested in the techie stuff, the synth output is routed to the VoiceLive 2 aux input and the guitar and mic are also fed into the VL2. The output of the VL2 feeds the Boss RC-30 loopstation and the output of this goes to the monitors and also feeds an input on Sonar X1 to record the audio which is used on the video.

Josie also uses Sonar X1 to control the synth (Roland XV-5050) which is pre-set to the sounds she needs. So all she has to do is hit the down-arrow to select the next sound.

I hope you enjoy it! If you do, please leave her a nice comment on her Youtube page.

Best wishes to all,

Toby

Only 17 and she can do all that?  And that well?  Wow--incredible!  Must have been fun having that amount of talent in your studio.  :)

Yes, it seems someone posted the link on a chat site called reddit.com and it then got voted up the front page on Wednesday. After that it just spread to many other similar sites.

So it may be tempting to think that we could have influenced this but in reality I don't think we could have. The key to it seemed to be to put in the effort to make a musically and visually interesting video.

What's nice is that lots of people are now watching Josie's original music on her 'BehindThoseEyes13' Youtube channel too and are being very supportive. This probably wouldn't have happened if she hadn't recorded this cover.

Best wishes, and thanks again for the support from all on this forum, and the guys at Sonar,
    Toby
