Feelin' Low: Collab with Bapu with(Spacey bass) Final Mix..I hope

Howdy folks,  I posted this a few times a while ago as stalled out works in progress and have received much help on this.
Big thanks to everyone here and especially CHB members Danny, Bapu, and Alex for their valuable assistance. Once again bravo to CHB member Bapu for another great performance.
I did this for a composer in Portugal Marius Alves. He wanted me to use his keys and drum files and do the rest live. Without further b.s. here is the old done by original author Feeling low
and here is my mine,  Feeling Low new Did I do OK as producer? It's my first finished project as producer.
Congrats to CHB Luthier Michael (Spacey) on a wonderful build, I'm sure Bapu will be around to post pictures and remind us about that other gizmo he has.

Haven't heard Michael's name for awhile!  This is quite a tune, Grant.  I don't know what to think!  It is so different that , well, I really like it.  I think it's produced the only way it could be.  I was trying to think of something different to do and I can't.  You did a fine job!

This is really good. I like the song and the mixing/mastering sounds dead on to me.

Bapu, the custom Spacey Bass sounds great!

Well that 1st version had so much room for improvement :-) And you definitely succeeded. You're mix/production is night and day better... Good job, and nice colab.

That vintage drum track sounds really dynamite. Great production. Everything sounds from the era. Great perfomances. Bass sounds great. I was curious since it looked so cool.

The intro had a good build up, but around 0:21 the guitar volume seems a bit lower than what the build up is leading to.  Again in 0:56 the guitars needs to come up a bit.  Transition around 0:32 needs some smoothing out.

Otherwise I like the song.  Nice arrangement and very well performed.

Thanks everyone who noticed the bass (and you too Mark).

For those that have not seen the bass Michael (aka spacey) built for me, here it is:

I used smooth rounds on that track. I'm going to try a round wound on the low B on the next track I do to see it I can get a bit more ring out of it.

love the answering vocals on this. nice guitar licks and it does have that retro feel. Like mgh I thought some fills were slightly off time, but didnt overly take away from it.Cool.

Thanks Cian, yes the drums were done by Marius in a program called Noteworthy composer on a Mac, I wanted to replace some sections but he wanted to keep his original so I quantized it the best I could, I'm glad it didn't take away that much in the entertainment value, I'll try to get things tighter before I send it off to him.

Thanks again Vincente for the detailed time of the comments very helpful, Marius is happy with it now but I plan some last minute tweaks before I send him the final.

Hey Grant, this came out really cool.  I'm not sure which version I heard a while ago, but this one sounds WAY better.  Who did the vocals?  I hear a few different parts there.

Anyway, it came out sounding great, and that bass (what was that bassist's name again ) sounds about as pretty as it looks (the bass, not the bassist )

Big thanks to Rick, Tom, Phil and Reece.

Phil, what I sent a few weeks ago was recorded a few years back when I first upgraded to Sonar 7 studio. It was my first project with MIDI and softsynths I had to put it on the shelf a few times. The bad phone sound for the call vocals are from the old project with an old crappy DJ radio shack mic and every single free and demo vst Strummy ever posted applied , Marius, request on that bad phone sound btw. The new monitors reveled there was more static than vocals, on the answer vox, so I had to do that over last week. And some guitar tracks were added. Other than that Bapu playing bass instead of me is the only difference. It was fun but I will think twice before going and playing around with someones MIDI's again.

I have a new mix up, I really liked Vincente's idea and went with it. Thanks!
I also tightened it up a bit thanks again Mark and Cian, also just a little panning adjustments, I hope I didn't ruin it for the folks that liked it as is.

psychedelic pop Yes, I think you nailed it. Marius originally described it to me as prog rock. Thanks Jon glad you liked and could properly identify it for me.

Update, I plan on a remix in a few days, I ordered a matching sub for my system and it was on back order for a while,  I just got a shipping notification and I want to verify it with the sub, I'm working on smoothing out some transients and Marius had a few suggestions. BTW he didn't give me much room for interpretation but one liberty I did fight for was the guitar chord arrangement. He had 6 string bar chords that just didn't sound right to me on a real guitar so he let me get away with that. I also plan an intro idea Marius had in the next mix. Thanks everyone a whole bunch!

Sorry for the delay in our collab Reece, somehow workflow happened on this and that's unusual foe me. I want to go with it before it goes away again.

That's a beautiful bass, spacey. I admire your work, much nicer than the bass I built. And Bapu does it credit too. Fun song. Nice guitar work, and I love the drums.
