Yo Bob, I see you are keeping the snow melting with some hot guitar grooves as usual! Cool tune, definitely a bit of a blues groove on this one, I like it. Great intro and soaring vocals as usual. The mix sounds very good on my system. That was a good dose of flat out rock on a cold night! Hope all is well with you.

That works! Really solid instruments and you definitely know when it's you singing. You have a trademark sound. The lead tones and everything were superb. Keep on pickin' Rocker Boy. "They chose to fight to lose". Heavy line. Reminds me of our politicians!

Bob, you have some amazing skills. This goes without saying. But, I am going to keep harping on you to try something new. Change directions. It is getting to the point where these are all starting to sound the same to me. Shake it up man. I know you can do it.

Got me right from that first riff Bob! Got a strong Bad Company vibe from this one, just a great, straight ahead rocker - nothing wrong with that!

I love this just as I do all of your songs. Foxy said they all sound alike to him. Well, that is a style thing IMO. it's just your trademark sound shining through. Take the band, Boston for example. They all have the same sound too so I can identify them instantly when a new song of theirs plays on the radio. Great guitar riffs and vocals. Keep up the great work!

The example I would use would be Rush. Both music and people evolve. It is not a bad thing. Please, make no mistake: I am not suggesting you change Bob from being Bob. All I am suggesting is an attempt to step out of the comfort zone. I hold nothing but esteem for you and your music. I have in the past mentioned that some of your work is among my favorite pieces posted on this forum.

Patented Bob Oister sound and I'm loving it. Man, I do not know how you get up there vocally . Seriously, sounded great. If you're looking for nits, the drums sounded maybe a tad hot, but the caveat here is I was listening on my pc speakers, so bear that in mind... they're not studio monitors. Great job, buddy.

Bravo, Bob! This packs a punch, especially from an engineer's point of view. I really like the way you mixed the drums in this which gives your guitar work a strong counterpoint. Your website is cool, as well.

Great work Bob. Not my favorite by you though. It's still a good heavy rocker. Great musicianship. I clicked on the link to your site. For those that say, "it all sounds the same," listen to Broken Angel. I think Broken Angel is a more diverse offerring from you and it's a great song! Hope you doing great!

i know where Shad is coming from - your songs all use the same vocal, guitar and drum sound, whether being Pantera or Cheap trick type. as everyone states, this is a strength or weakness. for me, the drums are ALWAYS the weak link. the actual mix is excellent, the performances are superb but needs a little variation in tone.

This is'nt a genre of music i usually listen to, but i always admire your work and the power that comes through my speakers when i listen to your tracks. You've got the perfect vocals for this style as well. I can't offer any technical advice on this style of music, but great work Bob.

Excellent number Bob. I love the power in your songs. To me this number is a bit different --- I don't know --- maybe it has a touch of a Z Z Top feel to it? Maybe it is that rhythm guitar rift panned to the right that has that Top sound to it? Your vocals are really excellent and I liked that definitive ending. Great work buddy, keep on rockin'!!!!

I like everything about this except, as usual, the drums. The kick sound just is all wrong for this. Too much high end and no variation in velocity. The snare is too busy;the kick disappears during the rolls and on a bunch of the crash strikes the kick is just plain missing. As for Shad's comment, I will say this: what you do, you do very well. Composition is always well thought out. Vocals are killer, and that guitar is as huge as the Grand Canyon. The bass is supportive of the rest, but really nothing remarkable about it. If you spent some time making the drums sound like a real drummer played them, as opposed to a bunch of common quantitized midi loops, your songs would go to the next level. Of course, my offer to work with you on the beats is always open!

jamesg1213: Hi, James, Thank you very much, my friend! I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input and comments, because the caliber of your work is always fantastic. I'm truly grateful for your friendship and support, have a great day, James! Bob ================================== Scottytunes: Hey, Scotty, It's really great to hear from you, and also sincere thanks for your input and kind words on this song! EXACTLY!!! Your Boston example is precisely what I had in mind when I started out trying to learn this DAW stuff and started to work on these recording projects. After decades of playing a surprisingly wide variety of different genres of rock and metal styles multiple nights a week in my many cover bands, my main goal was to try to define my own consistent signature sound for my CD projects. After a lot of great input, advice, observations and comments from you, and many good members of this forum, I feel like I'm constantly learning and improving as I go. Thanks again for all your good input, help and support here on the forum, It's greatly appreciated, buddy! Have a good one! Bob =================================== foxwolfen: Hi, again, Shad, No, problem, buddy, I understand where you're coming from, and really do appreciate all of your input, observations, and suggestions now, and in the past! As Scotty mentioned, I also believe that on the forum sometimes genres can get in the way a bit when critiquing songs. I'm always much more comfortable posting on other people's classic rock, hard rock and metal songs here on the forum, (or even blues, pop, jazz or country) than I am with electronica, rap, dubstep, orchestral, cinematic, etc., due to not listening to some of those genres on a regular basis. Because I eat, sleep, and breathe hard rock and metal music 24/7, I have a particular frame of reference I can relate to. But, I still always try to listen and post on the many other types of music posted here, and mention the technical mix details or parts of the performance that stand out to me or that I really enjoy, although it may not be a type of music that I listen to on a daily basis. During this digital learning journey, I've really gained a new appreciation and great respect for many different types of music that I never thought I would ever listen to, and that's purely do to my participation on this forum, and the wide array of excellent music that the members post. Anyway, the point is, thanks again for listening to my stuff and offering your honest thoughts and observations, I truly appreciate your input, and everyone else who takes the time to listen and comment. That's what makes this place such a great asset for anyone trying to learn this stuff and improve their production skills. Best wishes! Bob =================================== philz: Hey, Phil, how's it going, buddy? Hope you're doing well! Hey there Bob. The guitars sound massive my friend - your unmistakable trademark wall of tone Loving the pinched (and open) harmonics in the solo, and a bit of whammy abuse to boot! Your voice sounds as good as ever too Bob. Keep on rocking!

I always look forward to your input and opinion on my songs, and really appreciate your observations and comments. By the way, nice work on your latest post, "Flying On New Wings", great song! Thanks again, Lynn, have a great weekend! Bob =================================== scottytunes: Hey, Scotty, Speaking of a power ballad, sorry, I forgot to thank you (and everyone else who listened and commented) on the power ballad under this one on the player, "Broken Angel". I posted it way back in early December, then got slammed with a ton of crazy stuff around the holidays and didn't get back on the forum for a month and a half. After reading everybody's comments, I did end up remixing "Broken Angel" and touching up the vocals where you noticed that I was forcing a minor vocal harmony note into the major chords of the piano. A BIG thank you to your good ears for spotting that, and also to everyone who took time to listen and comment on that post way back when, in December! I always try to reply to everyone who comments on any of my posts, and usually never leave a thread hanging like that, but 48 hours after posting that song, my "real" life went into a bit of a frenzy and I really couldn't find the time to get back on here for quite a while. Anyway, thanks again, Scotty, and have a great weekend! Bob ===================================== eko: Hi, Eko, Thank you very much for giving this song a listen, and for your taking time to comment! Yes, I usually try to just get the vocals to sound like what I'm hearing in my head when the song idea and melody first occur to me. Although, I do sometimes have to custom tailor them to make them fit the rest of the music once I get the main backing tracks recorded. Thanks again for your input, I greatly appreciate it. Best Wishes! Bob =================================== Guitarpima: Hey, Robert, How's it going, buddy? Hope you're having a great week! Thanks a lot for stopping by to check this one out, and also for taking time to listen to "Broken Angel", and your encouraging comments! Yes, you're right, I thought that one was definitely a lot different for me because I wrote that on the piano as the main instrument, instead of a guitar, plus I usually don't do too many ballads or slower songs. Many thanks for your input and observations on my stuff, I really appreciate it. Have a super weekend, buddy! Bob =================================== CLEAN: Hey, Mark, How are you?
