In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

ampfixer Ringo has always been great.
The human metronome. Unfortunate face for the early attempts at making the Beatles the first "boy band" (personally I think they were all ugly as sin) but without him I doubt they could have been/become the insanely influential band they were. What did they market him as? The "smart" one? Ouch... that's gotta hurt. lol Seriously tho... Ringo roolz.

Seeing The Fab Faux last night and hearing live expert recreations of Ringo's drum parts only served to once more confirm what Beeps says. Ringo roolz.

oh, ya... I sawz you say you were going to go check that out. Where in the frack do you find the time?! anyhoo... those guys are supposedly the absolute top of the "Tribute" band foodchain so I bet it was quite good. I dabbled in the "tribute" realm for a while. Very different than "cover" bands. You need to be GOOD to pull that shiz off at their level and it's a LOT of work. The money is decent though if you can prove yourselves. The whole scene is pretty freaking weird (it's essentially rock and roll "fanfic" levels of weird/nerdiness). You have doods critiquing/analyzing not just the playing but the gear being used, on stage moves/presence, attire right down to your hair, height/weight and facial features. Totes cray cray. i just wanna play mofos!

The Faux's aren't into the "look" (no costumes, wigs etc.) they are strictly into the music. They have fairly authentic gear (not by year but by models). I didn't count but I would say they used (in various combinations) over 20 guitars especially since one player is a lefty. I can say I saw at least 3 Strats, 2 LPs, a Danelectro, a sitar (yes, a real sitar), 3 Epis, 1 SGs, one Gretch and at least 6 different acoustic guitars as well as 5 different basses (Hofner, Rick, P & J Bass and a lefty P-Bass). Two different drum sets. I've seen them 6 times and so I've seen at least 5 different sets over the years. They also have a string section (cello, violin) and horns (2 saxes, trombone and trumpet). Last night they brought in the Burbank High School Chior for about 5 songs. Ending the 3 song encore with Give Peace a Chance.
