Filter particular frequencies

Hello all,

I have a nice question.

I have a song were a voice counts down from 10 to 1 but there is a sound of a clock ticking at the same time.
I also have the same ticking separated without any other music in it.

Now my question: Is it possible to filter out the ticking at the countdown so only the vocal is left.

I heard to other mixed tracks from that same song and they had it without the ticking but all other kinds of music in it... but maybe they have the midi files.

Thank you very much!

I would recommend getting a noise reduction plug-in... I just posted some stuff on another filtering question and one guy posted a link to something that had a free noise reduction option...

    Classic technique:
    • invert the standalone ticking waveform
    • mix in with the speech+ticking

    Result: Speech without the ticking.

If this doesn't work (and frankly, it probably won't unless the ticking is identical in both waveforms) then you have other options:
    • manually edit out the ticks
    • use Adobe Audition's tick and pop removal routines (or similar utility)

Try using both a fast gate & cut the dominant frequency of the clock.
Forgot to add that instead of a gate you can also split the audio file in 10 sections. Then cut out around the voice in each & using envelopes.

Could you leave it in as part of the song?

Another way might be to put Cakewalk Analyst on the track to see where the see what the ticking frequency is. Then, put Sonnitus multiband on the track. Bypass all the bands except the one on the far right, key in the frequency and then pull down the slider to try and quench the tick. Eq on its own might damage the vocal although you could use a bit afterwards to enhance the effect ie. dull it down.

Can't you just re-record the counting? That would take 10 seconds as opposed to several hours trying to filter it out.

    ROTFL!

"But it was the perfect take! I have never counted down from 10 to 1 so...perfectly before."

Sometimes the simplest solution is best.

Well I can't I do not have the equipment for that and my voice sucks xD but,
I want to try to make a new anthem for defqon 1 (there is a match) and there is one rule you have to use the same voice as used in the other anthems and they gave some standard vocals but not the count down..
