Final mix for these first seven.
If anyone has the time...I've got the final mix done for my first seven songs recorded with Sonar! It has been 9 months of learning, starting with Music creator 6, then Sonar X1, and now X2. I recorded everything using different guitar gear, Bass settings and drum sets (all drums are EZ Drummer). This has made it interesting and time consuming to get a cohesive mix of seven, but it's as good as I can do. The final (individual masters) were done within the T-racksCS deluxe shell (thanks again clarry). Now I'll take the lessons learned and start some new projects. I want to thank everyone for their feedback and help, it's been much appreciated. www.soundcloud.com/clintmartin

Sanctuary: nice job... love that fat guitar tone. Just curious..... what did you use on that? I could almost feel the heat from the tubes from here..... I thought the snare was just a few db too hot. Sounds like you learned the skills pretty nicely.

Thanks! The guitar on Sanctuary is a Strat and a HD500 going direct. I believe it's the Park75 model. Trying to match levels on these songs were an education! The drums are different on everyone. I did lower these a bit on the last pass. They may be a bit loud still, but I've got to call it good and move on. Thanks for listening and thanks for your advice in the past. You helped me a lot when I had MC6.

Clint, I listened to the first five songs, and I'm impressed by the variety and sterling performances. I look forward to hearing what you can do when you get in that comfort zone. Bravo.

Thanks. Lynn. I know they are not perfect, but I'm happy with them. One thing I'm still having a hard time with is getting the levels equal. Indian Two Step has an average of -9.5 RMS compared to -12.1 for Struck by fascination, but the latter sounds a little louder to me. It's funny with all these tools (3 metering programs, Span, T-racks metering, and Toscanalyzer) I still have to use my ears!

I just listened to Sanctuary and I think it sounds terrific. I'm not a guitar player, but that Pod HD500 sounds excellent in my estimation. J

notnat- Thanks! Yes that's me singing. It's a little off, but I don't know how to use v-vocal yet. Thinking about melodyne. jsaras- The HD500 pod is pretty sweet. "Indian Two Step" is Amplitube Fender. They both show a lot of promise...I hope to get better at all of this. Thanks for all of your comments.

Melodyne is an excellent fix for that... I've used it with great sucess, but it has its bugs... I've learned to work around them...

I used to have a Roland VS2400 and it had autotune. I used a slow chromatic pitch correction that usually did the trick. It's in those trailing notes at the end of words were I tend to go a bit flat. Chromatic didn't work at all for harmony however. I think Melodyne will be a future purchase.
