Great Stuff again ! Love it ! Mix wise it translates well over here. All transparent. Bass end seems controlled. The Kick could do with a little bit more punch for my taste. Great playing, singing, arrangement and all... : ) Cheers, Daniel

Hey bat. Great playing and song. Crits: Guitars L/R are too soft. Snare could use some air or some kind of ambience. It seems disconnected from the other instruments. Kick could use more punch (+1.5 at 60db or maybe lower?). Vocs could use a touch more reverb. All IMO. Love your work.

Just my two cents of course...it all sounds perfect except the drums in general should come up, particularly the kick. Everything else sounds so perfectly balanced. Just sounds like a guitarist mixed it...he he.

ALRIGHT NOISY, thanks for the info... from reading the other posts, sounds like most want more kick. i had the kick punchier, but then i thought it stood out too much, i'm gonna have to revisit that for sure!

hey rimshot! thanks for the detailed review.. good stuff. funny, voda thinks it sounds like the guitar player mixed it! (he did!!), LOL, and you want more guitar. i'll tell you, it's tricky with this balance on this one.... i thought the guitars needed to be hotter, and everytime i mix, i bring them further down... THIS SONG... is the opening track. so, later it gets mellower, and more acoustics, but this one is the slap in the face to kick off the album.... but i don't want to scare people off thinking it's just a grinding hard rock fest.... so i think, i tuck the guitars back a bit, let the acoustics stand out a bit more, and watch out for masking on the voices. the snare has a verb send on it, but it's very lightly mixed..... vox as well, has delay, and a touch of verb. i don't want the effects to be heard....... and i want the vox very personal and in the face..... and on this song, i just don't care about making the whole mix sound homogeneous with room sound, i think i want a few things kinda dry, and a bit more modern sounding. you have a good ear for this stuff, so thanks for the details

hi voda, thanks for listening and commenting man, it really helps. i'll tweak the drums, i've got everything except the toms, going to a drum sub bus, and that bus has parallel compression, i've got a tom bus, and i've automated some delay on the tom fills in the middle, just for a spacey ambience.

Second listen, I like, yes the kick could do with a little more weight, overall it has all those Bat's Brew hall marks, Cool guitar tone with sweet licks. Nice overall balance apart from what has already been mentioned.

hey wookiee, kick more weight, check! gonna mess with that tonight..... as i've been doing slight boosts with the kick, anywhere from 60-80 hz, i've been moving my roll-off up to just underneath it as well, typically around 35-50hz, just depends on how woofy the lowest of the low is.
