Finally Available on iTunes

I couldn't remember exactly why I was anxiously waiting for August, but it just hit me: Super Duper Alice Cooper is finally available on iTunes!!

This could also explain why I recently felt the urge to add his whole discography to my iPhone and have been listening to those albums over and over since.

Even as a die hard fan of his records, I think I've probably always underestimated Alice himself. But he's an interesting fellow with a remarkable career, that's for sure, and, for some weird reason one of our constant point of reference when my wife and I speak music.

He's also the artist whose songs I've covered the most often, by a long shot. Ever since I got my first reel-to-reel, I'm basically always working on a cover of one of his song. Nothing I planned, it just sort of happens...

Welcome to My Nightmare was the first really big rock show I went to see. Amazing stuff for its time. Theater, film, costumes and music, all in one show. It changed everything.

Unfortunately, I was a bit young at the time.

I got to see him in 1990, for the Trash tour. The French Canadian equivalent of MTV/Much Music had this Alice Cooper giveaway, and I called hoping to win the record, but I won the whole thing: pair of tickets, album, shirt.

Montreal was a 6 hour drive and I don't drive, so it was a bit of a headache to figure it out - plus, I'd never been to the city, and I was quite worried about it.

But I had a great time - even if Trash was a more commercial type of album. The show itself was totally Alice.

I was privileged to see Alice Cooper at the Fillmore East a few weeks before they closed in 1971.  It was the tour for Love It To Death.  He was doing the make-up and a few props.  It seemed to be more about the music than theatre.   Great show.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?
