Finally got around to trying this

been too lazy to do this but finally got around to it on my last few songs. on the vox i am running a shure ksm27 through a great river me-1 and then into my rme ff800. putting the singer about 6" from the mic with a pop shield in between. at the same time i am running a shure ksm 313 about 12" from the singer and slightly to the side. i got rid of my twin finity mic pre so i am just running ksm 313 directly into one of the fireface mic pre's. i have been getting pretty good results.
i was wondering if you guys had any opinions on this set up and if there are any suggestions(besides a 2nd mic pre) that you have on this to improve the final result. thanks!

Tell you what, tcm, how about you send me that gorgeous ribbon and I'll report back to you in a year or so to let you know how it's working. :)

Don't you have phase issues with that setup? You've got two mics about 6 inches apart, which sounds like a recipe for comb filtering above 2KHz.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

to be more accurate the 313 is about 12" away from the ksm27.
so the 27 is 6" from the singer and the 313 is 18" from the singer.
i'm very fortunate to have a good friend who is a distributer for shure.
but i'm still paying for that 313 in a big way...
