Finally
Hi - I log in once in a while - finally finished a tune after messing around for a long time. If you've got some time check it out. Done in cakewalk, used some Melodyne on the vocal. I'm a hack (compared to many on the site) but I'm still at it! https://youtu.be/qUDmzj5GfVY Manny

Hi Manny, we don't see you very often here, but I remember you've always been very supportive about the stuff I've posted over the years. Good to see you. This is a really well written song, it's goes in directions I wouldn't expect, in a good way. Very nice melodies and arrangement. Lovely work, and you have a great singer to work with.

Sounds like it belongs on Harrison's Cloud Nine album. What a great song. I think the lead vox could be brightened a bit. Excellent!

Manny This is really good. We need more songs like this - upbeat and appreciative of the small things in life. Keep it up!

Hey guys - thanks for the positive feedback. James - yes, I remember liking your material a lot! It's odd but since I retired (two years ago) I find that I spend less time doing music - I'd expected it to be the opposite. Hopefully I'll get rejuvenated! Thanks again (Bill and Bjorn)

Nicely written song, cool vocal, perhaps a little to much reverb but that can be a personal choice, nice to see you back Manny.

I remember Manny! Welcome back. this song is killer. The melody that goes on an unexpected course is truly wonderful. The overall arrangement seems filled with those kind of unusual choices that make it, well . . . so beautiful. She has a great voice I think. Do you hear her voice hitting a compressor or something just a little hard? Some very gentle distortion might be great on some voices . . . but hers I would prefer to hear clear as a bell. Just a thought - it's so barely there (the distortion) that I'm not positive I'm hearing it. Did you grunge it up just a tad? Or am I hearing things (again) ? but really nice songwriting here. cheers, -Tom

Wookie thanks a lot. I kind of messed up on the vocals. I’m no engineer. I may revisit them for a variety of reasons.
Tom. We’re on the road at the moment but I just wanted to thanks for such positive input. I did mess up the vocal a bit. She only had an hour, the song doesn’t have an intuitive melody so there was lot of stop and go, uneven volume and pitch problems. So between the melodyne and compression I did a crap job (being that I really don’t know how to use either of those tools). Maybe I’ll try again.
When we get back home I have to do some listening to everyone’s tracks again.
The Mayans are back. Will check it out Monday. I remember thinking the lyrics were very clever.

Lovely song. I agree with the George Harrison reference above.

Nice song... the unpredictableness reminded me a bit of Squeeze. Yet, the melodies flowed nicely from progression to progression. Well done.

Manny, I still listen to your epic "Unforgiven" from time to time. This new song is a pleasant surprise, and I'll be listening to this from now on. I really like everything about this, so from my standpoint, it's good to go. Keep up the good work!

Daryl and Steve - thanks for thumbs up. Harrison or Squeeze - good company, Lynn - that’s so cool that you check out unforgiven once in a while (epic - good sense of humor there Lynn). And thanks for the kinds words on the new one - much appreciated.

I liked it - that's a really good mix. You say you used Melodyne on the vocal - sounds excellent to my ears. A catchy tune - well done.

Thanks Doug, yes, I had to make some corrections to the pitch in a few places. I’m sure there are more subtle ways to accomplish this but it worked. I think I was a bit heavy handed.

I normally lean toward more rhythmic songs but I really enjoyed this number. This is a beautiful song and everything (performance, arrangement, lyrics, mix, etc.) about it was excellent.

Freddie and Paul - I appreciate your taking both the time to listen and also the time to comment. If it’s beatles-esque that puts a smile on my face.
