Finally upgraded to X2 but having a few problems...

The upgrade and installation went well but I'm having a few hassles with some 32 bit plug ins. Mainly Waves Diamond Bundle.

The installation of the plug in is fine and if I go into my EFX folder they are all there but if I open a file created in X1 it shows that it's missing the Waves plug ins.

Am I doing anything wrong? I did notice that each Waves plug in now has a "normal" version and also a "mono" version in the EFX folder. That's definitely different compared to X1.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Peter.

Did you add the path through the Cakewalk Plugin Manager?

Also, when you do the X2a patch, you will need to reset and rescan plugins.

I had to set up SONAR to rescan existing plugins before my 64 bit Waves Plugins showed up.  There is also a Cakewalk INI file tweak available also.  Can't remember what it is off the top of my head.  It was posted by Noel of the Cakewalk staff.  Anyhoo, I found that the default setting worked best (for me) in regards to Waves plugins anyway.

I also found that somehow, I had duplicate installations of some plugins (UAD, I believe) that was causing my major issues.  Once I eliminated scanning for those, I had better results.

i didn't put the path in with the plug in manager. as i said if i open the effects folder the plug ins are there but for some reason on an old project sonar doesn't see them.

i did do a plug in reset and rescan.

Peter, I checked out your Revelation Sampler tunes- QUITE nice.  That's a good fat chunky guitar sound.

    Thanks Bob,

I've been very fortunate to have an instrumental rock CD do quite well for me. I'm actually about to release number 2.

I just wish I could sort out this plug in problem. I should also mention that the Waves plug in I'm having hassles with is still the 32 bit version.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

    The likely issue is this...
The old project were created using the 32Bit version of Sonar.
Your 32Bit *bridged* plugins are there/available in Sonar x64... but they're not the straight 32Bit versions referenced by the older projects.  Thus, they're not automatically loading...

    Here's a workaround (tedious but it'll work):
Load the 32Bit version of Sonar on your machine.
(The 32Bit and 64bit versions of Sonar can coexist without problem.)
Open an older project in the 32Bit version of Sonar.
I'm guessing it'll load as expected (all plugins intact).
If that's the case; go thru each plugin (on each track)... and save a preset for its current settings.
Now, open the older project in the 64Bit version of Sonar and use Save As to make a copy.
With this new copy of your project, add the necessary plugins to each track... and load each of the presets you saved above.  Save this updated project.
You should now be able to reload this updated project... with all plugins intact.
This is a tedious process... but it should resolve the problem.

+1 on that being workable, just a pain,
