Find Tempo Of Audio Clip

Hi All!
 
I know this is fairly basic knowledge when working with digital audio, but I need some help figuring this out in X1.
 
I've imported a loop I made in Sound Forge into Sonar XI.
The loop imported perfectly.
 
Now as it sits in my project I see it's not synced to the correct tempo of the project.
 
Is this something I should adjust in Sound Forge, or is it something that can be done more practically inside Sonar X1.
 
If this can be done inside Sonar X1, what would the exact procedure be, or where would I find the information on doing this.

    Drag the start of the clip to the desired start time, then with the cursor set in the bottom right corner and holding the Ctrl key you can drag the end of the clip to its proper end time.   After you have it aligned properly bounce to clip. 

    I think there are other methods such as groove clips that can be used but this is a quick method for doing it.  If the amount of change in tempo is too drastic it may not sound very good so other methods may have to be employed.

    This worked exactly as you said it would, but this is not exactly what I'm trying to do here.
     
    What I would like is to find the exact tempo of the imported loop as it's played "originaly".
    I don't want to change the original tempo.
    If I could find the original tempo, then I could start the project at that tempo import the loop and adjust as needed later.
     
    Any suggestions?

    If it is a Groove clip then select the clip, then in the inspector on the left click on the Clip tab at the top left, then select Groove clip from the menu near the bottom.  If there is an associated tempo then it should be indicated there under original tempo.

    Hi Harpo,

    maybe you could just play the loop in an external program, and in Sonar, open up the Tempo dialog and use
    the "Tap Tempo" option to tap along with the original loop.

    I've used that myself and it worked for what I needed.
    Of course, you've got to be able to tap in time :-)

    Re - How to find out BPM (Tempo) of an audio clip.
    Method 1:  Lorneyb2 method above is best, just check 'enable looping'.  Here are 2 more.
    Method 2:   Download the free MixMeister Bpm Analyzer.  You must give a current email address.
    MixMeister BPM Analyzer is a free program to determine the exact BPM (beats per minute) of any song.
    Install and run BpmAnlyz.exe, drag clip into MixMeister, and it will display the exact BPM.

    Method 3:  Manual calculation: 
    Trim the audio clip to omit silence at start and end of clip.
    Groove Clip properties - auto stretching - enable looping - displays the no. of beats. Eg. 16 beats
     and tab General - seconds - displays the length of the clip (in seconds).  Eg. 7.5 sec
    BPM is the no. of beats divided by the length (in minutes).  Eg.  16 / (7.5 / 60) = 128 BPM

    The thread is 6 years old...
    Even that time there was Audiosnap. But these days there is Melodyne integration with tempo extraction.

    Ya, as Azslow mentioned.. you can drag an audio clip to the timeline and Melodyne will analyze it, then beat map it.
    this thread is old news. there's been a lot of changes since X1.
