Rapture 1.1 crashes Sonar 4

When I attempt to add Rapture 1.1 to the DXi instrument rack in Sonar 4 Studio Edition 4.0.4, Sonar crashes to desktop. I can add Pentagon and other DXi instruments, but not Rapture anymore. Before applying Rapture patch 1.1 I had no problems with Rapture. This weekend I will probably uninstall everything and reinstall, but if anyone can suggest an easier fix, I'm all ears.

Can you play the VST version?

Reinstalling everything didn't help. I've discovered the action that causes Sonar 4 to crash, though. I can add Rapture to the DXi rack in my project, but attempting to open the Synth Rack View causes Sonar to crash to desktop.

I have no problem running Rapture in Savihost, and Rapture starts up in the new 1.1 minihost with no problem, so the actual synth has no problem painting itself on the screen in those two hosts.

I just tried this from scratch, RedShoes. (I had to re-install Sonar 4 anyway.) I used both WDM and ASIO drivers at various latencies with Rapture 1.1. I didn't hunt down any of the S4 updates, so it's straight from the install disk. (Edit: Producer edition.)

Sorry, but I couldn't reproduce the behavior, no matter what I tried. I'll test out a few more options and updates later on, and report back if I find anything screwy. One quick question: Have you tried simply loading RP 1.1 in an audio track's FX bin, then 'binding' a MIDI track's output to that? Just as another diagnostic.

I set up an audio track and midi track as you suggested, b rock, and Rapture loaded and opened up in rack view just fine. It even played. However, when I changed patch in Rapture, it blew up. "Unhandled win32 exception occured in sonarstd.exe [3224]".

Another odd thing. If I open an old project I created with Rapture 1, that one opens and I can even open the Synth View without it blowing up. The odd thing is that when the synth view opens, it is grey - an empty canvas. If I drag that window off the screen and back on the screen (forcing it to redraw itself) then it does draw the Rapture synth.

Wow! It happened to me. I opened Rapture 1.1 in SP 4 and Voosh! Gone! No problem in SP 6 - works fine there .
I clicked on the report error dump to Microsoft button.
    It's happened twice now....
    Weird.

I finished installing SONAR 4, and I was able to play for quite a while without a glitch (wow it looks SO ancient). I saved my project, then reopened and <kaboom> it exploded.
RedShoes, we do not officially support Rapture in SONAR 4 (Rapture takes advantage of latest DXi interface, not featured by S4). Yet, if you drop me a line to rceballos at cakewalk dot com I'll see if we can narrow this down and find a workaround.

Thanks everyone for the assistance. Rapture runs fine for me inside of Savihost, so I'm just going to leave it at that - I can do what I need to do that way. Don't want to take up a whole bunch of someone's time. I wasn't planning on upgrading to 6 because 4 does about 10x more then I need, but looks like plans have changed. Thanks again!
