Thanks Tom - means a lot (coming from you especially). It was pretty fun making the video, but I nearly lost my mind figuring out which of the numerous sounds to show - it nearly turned into an epic on the scale of the Godfather or something "And now part one of a 435 part series...."

This is the best way to get a tutorial - watching to see what someone else is doing.

Good job, Brandon. And Tom, have Cake get you a camera so you can show us some of your tricks, rather than writing them all out.

Speaking of Rapture I am getting real close to release my new skin.
This one will have new knobs and be a bit brighter then the last ones...
Yes it will have some lights to although not as pronounced as past versions.
The buttons are like something you have never seen before on this one...
I am working on the finishing touches now so it will be released soon.

    Nice T-Shirt.

To think, at one time P5 was a $429 MSRP app.

AT, I've had a DV setup here, almost since day one. Let's just say that any guerrilla video that I put out wouldn't have the same ... refined decorum and focused presentation that Brandon's videos display. I might be able to get away with it on YouTube, though.

Brandon, maybe you're well aware of the impact these synth and application videos have, or maybe not. Here's one barometer: I've got a stack of emails and PMs here, and had a number of phone conversations spanning just the past few days. What they all have in common is some reference to this video: how Brandon did that, what sound Brandon got here, what did Brandon do here to get this kind of sound control, ... You get people excited about diving in head first and gaining mastery over an instrument or app.

I'm looking forward to Part 2 of 435. Maybe with a new feature StepGen focus, and just as much playing time.
Also, I'm looking forward to Rapture 1.1 T-shirts.

Editing, editing, editing. I made a fairly good video from a presentation where the presenter literally had a minor heart attack. Little cut here (is his arm shaking?), little cut there (cut to a shot of the crowd before the seizure). Just gotta get the spaces right. Almost anything is salvageable. Even you on camera, B.

BTW, Brandon, thanks for reminding me again about comb filters.

    Well, I gotta say ...

You're knowledge combined with your talent and skills are always inspiring, Brandon. Every video I've seen you do has almost always changed my whole impression of whatever it is you were working on -- in this case Rapture.

Funny thing is - when it first came out, I kind of yawned. I think it was due mostly to the original set of patches that came with it. Then one day, for the hell of it, I bought it. Started futzing with it. I'm in LOVE with it now. Have been for awhile. The expansion packs are what got me going with it. And it's become a "go-to" synth of late for me.

As a shameless showoff, here's a track I did last night (in P5).. very Raptured ;)

BTW, to me, one of the great features for sound-making potential is the ability to combine so many different sounds via the elements, and to be able to mash them as one pleases.

This is also fun to do. Just try combining not so obvious elements and all kinds of neat things happen ;)

    Try this link (click me!)
    It's a free FLV to MPEG4 converter.
Just plug the U-tube vid's url in, and then download the resulting MPEG4, which you can then play in any DivX AVI player.
(I Hope nobody minds the links...)

What a great video. I own Rapture and I still enjoyed just listening to the different sounds. It's a real fat, warm synth with tons of deep programming options. I'm always tempted by the latest eye-candy softsynths like the new Jupiter-8V. But watching this video made me forget all about it. I wish I had a year to spend just learning and experimenting with Rapture. Hopefully when I get to that chapter in "Cakewalk Synths", and then study some of the B Rock and others' tutorials, it can speed up the process.

As always, great work Cakewalk in providing support and training after the sale.

Open up the synth's interface, where you can see it. Click on the RAPTURE logo in the upper-right, to get at the 'splash screen'. Press F1.

I know in this day an age not to have internet at home is a no no but that is the way it is at the moment.

We may be looking at two different definitions of 'online' here. I thought that you meant 'accessible from the synth interface', rather than the help file residing on a server somewhere. I don't know of a place in [Cakewalk]'s system that hosts the complete documentation for Rapture.

But there is a direct way to access this document, outside of the synth. Go to ... \Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Documentation (by default), and make a copy of Rapture.chm, or Rapture User's Guide.pdf. Then you can burn a copy to CD, or put it on a USB drive for while you're at ... work.
