Can Sonar scale midi velocity?

I am a prospective buyer. I used to use my Yamaha DX-7 II D as a midi controller with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, and I seem to remember some quirks due to the midi implementation of the DX-7 II D (the velocity stops half way, something like 127.)

I was wondering if I can setup Sonar to filter velocity values so that I can reach the whole spectrum. If so, what types of mapping are allowed? Linear would be OK, but if I could draw a velocity mapping curve it would be even better.

Thanks in advance!

sure not half way.. it stops at around 110 as far as I remember .. 127 is the full velocity value available under the MIDI spec.

MFX..right click on any fx bin of a MIDI track and choose the Velocity MIDI realtime effect.. no curves ..but it can multiply the existing values to expand and reach the full 127 range..oops..this will sure cut off the low velocity values or at least make them "too sensitive" to reach ..you can't avoid it really, the DX simply can't send out the full range..manipulating the transmitted values will get you the high velocities but it's still not the same as a keyboard that can respond well to the full 1-127 range.

You might like something like this: http://www.musiclab.com/products/vm_info.htm which is a midi effect that lets you map midi velocities. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be selling it anymore.

I have not changed my signature.

There are at least three ways to adjust velocities besides destructive edits. There is a midi offset in the Track Pane. Velocity envelopes available in midi clips and a MFX plug in available to drop in to a midi track FX bin. The midi FX also gives you a percentage option so you can get more change at the top end of your velocity than at the bottom. That way maybe you want lose too much of the lower velocity integrity as you would with an offset.

Now if they would put a note range filter at the front of the chain so that you could change a specific note and stack the plugin for multiple notes it would really float my boat.
