Using EQ & Compressor links

Here are some links of information that I use in my audio engineering calsses at the studio. You should find them to be very informative and helpful.

I have also posted this topic with links in the Techniques forum as well.

For EQ:

The Equalization Primer

Dipping Sauce

Equalization By The Octave (Note: Take this one with a grain of salt because not everyone agrees to these frequency ranges. I have included it for refernce only.)

Adding Bass Clarity

Uisng Complimentary Equalization

Using EQ to Compensate for the Fletcher-Munson Effect

For Compression:

Using Compression in Mixing & Mastering

The Exciting Compressor

General topics:

The Project Studio Handbook

Misc. Topics

There are more, but these will keep you very busy learning to apply them.

Hope these will be of some help to those in need of it.

Awesome! I'm adding the links I don't already have to my list of home recording favorites. Thank you!
btw, I just love the EQ Primer. It's a great starting point and quick reference guide for an amateur producer like myself.

Yes... good stuff. Reminds me of some of the good articles that were once available on a site called "Studio Covers". Does anyone know what happened to that site?

Thanks Chaz! Two of the places I struggle are EQ and the function of panning. And I'm sure as I go deeper into this I will find more places. It is nice to have members like you who take an interest in sharing their knowledge and bringing the rest of us along. I printed everything. Just from what I read the light really went on brightly. Even the order you listed them was helpful. I can't wait to try the exciting compressor trick with my vocals

No problem guys. Just take what you learn and experiment, experiment, experiment. And remember, that it will be a combination of everything that makes for a great mix!
