Solved! But this can't possibly be right, can it?

Global Options//MIDI//System Exclusive

Click the checkbox and snap, all the faders pop into position, the BCR displays "tc", Sonar's display switches from "Connecting..." to "Trks 1-8, Mstr 1, Jog: Beats and everything seems to work.

But doesn't this mean I'm going to be recording sysex info every time I roll on a MIDI track?

Looks like your control surface is kinda snoby. You should teach it to be a little more inclusive.

Hmmm. I just went and unchecked sysex recording on that tab and the bcf continues to work. After I have recorded the automation, I check Sonar's sysex window and there is none in the file.

Interesting anomoly.

Hey I have BCF2000 with Sonar 7 Producer and using Vista x32 and x64

It yncs and works okay through ACT
BUT how do you get the motorised faders working? and secondly all the drivers downloads dont recognise that version of Windows - so cant get into the tutorials steps

Any assistance would be extremely appreciated as the automation would be extremely useful - in the extreme Thanks

In Vista, you don't have to install any drivers. It should be recognized by default. Mine works under Vista fine and there are no other drivers for it. The BCFView application will not work under Vista on my system.

Thanks for hyour help Blades - appreciated
So the fact that I cna control all parameters of tacks or plug ins - butthe 'motorisation' of the faders doesnt work - is that due to the fact I am running it as BCF2000 under ACT and BCF under control devices? and/or via USB input to computer?
I have looked at your older videos with Sonar 3 or was it 4)- I should be running it under Mackie Control and selecting that under control devices
Also in another forum (Cubase as I was looking everywhere) they were having trouble with the BCF linked to the computer via USB (which is what I have running) but okay if link directly via midi (my audio input is via Focusrite Saphire 26 I/O so can go through their via midi - do you have yours via midi or USB connection ( I know you say USB remote on the video but are you actually set up using the USB or midi)
Thanks
Ian

I am set up via USB.

Yes, you are right: In ACT mode, the faders will not move - ACT is unidirectional, at least for all intents and purposes. Mackie mode is what you want for the bi-directional motorization.
