Roland Virtual Sound Canvas

Had this in version 3 Producer but after a clean install of 5 producer I seem to havce lost it.
Is there a way I can install this under 5 from my 3 disk, or do I have to uninstall 5, reinstall 3, then overlay 3 with 5?
*sigh*

And before you ask, no I don`t like TT1 or whatever it is called - sounds dont work as well with my gazillions of SMF`s.

If there`s MIDI, how come there`s no MAXI and MINI?

Yes, you can do a "custom install" from the Sonar 3 disk. Just select the components you want installed. HTH!

Worked like a charm although I now have a Cakewalk Producer 3 folder back in amoung my Cakewalk 5 folders! Is it safe to move the contents of the "3" folder and delete it?

Assuming this works for all the "back issue" plugs, etc., I need to go back and see what else I left behind in 3 when I upgraded...
plus I should have 6 by Monday.

Were you given the option to install the VSC in any folder of your choice during installation?

Do an uninstall and reinstall only this time choose custome and select only the vsti synth you want to install. In this case the Roland Canvas...
This will install just that and not the Host program.

that is exactly what I did and the VSC installed by itself just fine, but in a Cakewak3Producer folder! I am not worried as I can access it just fine, but may try moving it and deleting the folder when I have time to reinstall it all if it goes belly up!

If you move the DLL, make sure you run regsvr32 to unregister it at the old location and register it at the new location.

I *think* the syntax is similar to

    regsvr32 /uninstall "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Sonar Producer 3\.....\RVI01Dx.dll"

    then

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\path-to-new-dxi-dll\RVI01Dx.dll"

(the quotes are important because of the space in "Program Files").

It also keeps a data file with the samples - on my machine (I actually bought the full VSC package - vsti, dxi and driver) it's at
c:\program files\Roland\Virtual Sound Canvas DXi\RVI01.dat . I don't know if it goes elsewhere in a Cakewalk install or not. That directory is probably hard-wired into the instrument, so that might be a good place to move the DXI to.
