Congrats, Rob - I wish you lots of happy hours in your new home and, of course, your studio. I know how great it is to have a whole room dedicated to my studio. I've built a room in the basement recently and can't even imagine anymore to occupay a corner of another room ... Heinz.

I am replacing my old Behringer mixer with my new Yamaha, that should give me a cleaner noise floor, and adding in the new Pretube preamp, Next is some monitors and all should be cool.

Sweet news, cool for you! I'm relegated to an area off of the living room (apartments eh?) What kind of monitors are thinking about getting - I'm looking into a pair of M-Audio desktop monitors (LA is right down the street from me), I wish had the room for something bigger - but they look like a nice starter set. Have you used the mic-pre yet? Any thoughts on it? I was looking at an ART mic-pre. Can't wait to see pics.

Terry - you are looking at some of the stuff that is close to what I have. I have the m-audio DX-4's and the ART TPS II I love the ART unit. it's full of features and sounds really good. the speakers are good for a starter set, but not soon after I got them I realized their limitations. Oh well... not upgrading them anytime soon. they work for now, and they're much better than what i HAD (HIFI speakers).

Terry, I have that pre amp, and I think it was a great buy. I used it for mics and guitar, even bass a time or two at low settings. Very clean and quiet, especially when at lower settings for mic, just enough to boost the signal, not enough to color it. Now I use the yamaha board, porbably similar to the one robo mentioned, again, very quiet and clean. But I do use the pre on occasion, so it isn't getting wasted, don't want it to feel neglected. You should be happy with it, and the price is right, I think it was around $60. Later Albert
