[track] Smooth Jazz Collab
Hi All , I recently joined forces with Jayhill , a songwriter I met over at the Songs Forum. We did a Smooth Jazz collab song together. I thought a few people here might be interested ... Jeff did all the production and mixing... I did the Guitar work... btw ...P 5 was used on my end to practice and get in shape for my guitar parts. The Cats Meow... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=590178&songID=5243158 this song is not on my page yet , the above link is to the song which is on Jeffs soundclick page.. hope you enjoy Kenny

kenny i've been studying the smooth jazz forms and for better or worse listened to a lot of it on last.fm there are a few spots where either soundclick hiccupped or the pieces didn't sync up but some very nice playing and right in line with what I've been listening to it isn't easy to pull this off without going all elevator but the playing really keeps this engaging

ORIGINAL: wrench45us kenny i've been studying the smooth jazz forms and for better or worse listened to a lot of it on last.fm there are a few spots where either soundclick hiccupped or the pieces didn't sync up but some very nice playing and right in line with what I've been listening to it isn't easy to pull this off without going all elevator but the playing really keeps this engaging Hi wrench45us, thanks for the listen and comments.. hiccups..? could be soundclick...or a few places where the guitar is doing octaves I timed them to sound a little distressed... yeah , Smooth Jazz ...man ...lot's of variations in the Genre..... it's a tough call on where the line is ...from smooth jazz ..to the dentist chair... I would be exited to get in an elevator and hear something my Guitar played on ... for Jazz practice I tend to lean in the direction of Jazz Standards and BeBop... those forms of Jazz take a lot of patience .. IMO they provide a great deal of the tools to pull off Smooth Jazz with confidence and ease ... ORIGINAL: Jaybee Nice work, Kenny. Not what you usually find coming out of P5! :) (I DID read your post.) Hi Jerry, thats funny..... thanks for the listen ..... probaly the strangest P 5 song I have on my computer is a country song that I have been working on for a while...might even turn out to be my singing debut .... Kenny

Hi Kenny, I used to listen to a smooth jazz station in Chicago and this would fit right in. I liked the guitar playing and the song in general was a pleasant listen. eric

yeah Kenny, this is really impressive. Both the piano and the guitar. the drums and percs didn't make it for me, sounded a bit too "elevator", but that's really personal. I'm impressed by your playing.

Loved it , its bordering on ,but doesnt quite make it to elevator music. Its always difficult for me to comment on a genre Im not keen on. Production sounded top notch to me as did your playing.

Hi Stuart, thanks for the listen ...and comments.. it was nice to be a part of a this production as a guest player ... my collab partner layed it all out and gave me the green light to have some fun. badbib, thanks ... the paino was a gas to adapt to .... it set the tone over here ...... with the guitar parts...and we played off each others enegry.. Hi Eric, this song was a good thing ...I think ... I've .....done a few on my own ( Smooth Jazz style ) they didn't turn out as good as this.... .... Oh well ....in this Genre I would rather be a sideman and play with someone who knows how to get it done right... Hi Blip, thank you for the complement .. Hi Sen, thanks for getting me to come back here with a track post..... it has been a while. when you asked me about The Count Of Blues With Guitar .... over at Acid P... I figured this would be a good one to put up here .... ps ...when I sing my dogs tail stops wagging so it might be a while for that country song.... thanks all Kenny
