p5v2.5 locks up so many times that i had to uninstall it. what is up with that. it locks up i shut it down re-launch and then everything locks up mouse, keyboard etc. i have run the program about 15 times now and been able to lock it up without trying to 11 times. p5v2 never locks up with me. i have used p5 since the day it was published, p5v1. i have not posted in a while (well except "what’s up with the white man") lol. i guess someone has stepped up and said hey this p5v2.5 has got some serious problems.

....did i miss-post was this thread about something else....

granted, i'm pretty new here so i don't know much about the history and politics of this forum besides what i've seen during the last few weeks. ognis seemed like one of the main people here (to me). as this is the first forum that i've ever belonged to, i have a question about one of the terms that ognis has been accused of . . . what is "trolling"?

Trolling is deliberately posting in a way that is designed to elicit angry or negative responses from people on a forum...

Trolling is actually spelled trawling (as in sport fishing) except that as with all internet 'k00l catchphrases', it looks better spelled improperly. The idea behind it is that "trolls" are posting threads with the intent of 'fishing' for 'suckers' or those that would be baited to reply....usually to something derogatory.

xylyx beat me to the punch.

Actually greg, for completeness, its not mispelled. In sport fishing it is spelt trolling.

Trolling is dragging bait behind the boat. Trawling is dragging a net.

hmmm...Looks like it's the same word but with multiple spellings. Kind of a Canadian vs. American spelling thing maybe. I dunno.

Oh Great! I finally get a chance to bring my day job's knowledge to this forum (I'm a fisheries biologist) and Stuart beats me to it ! Oh well, at least he's right Sorry, Greg - they're two different methods for catching fish: trolling uses a rod/reel, trawling uses a big net.

Hmm ... what about chumming? You know, drop out some tasty treats, getting the scent in the water, get everyone fat and happy with the feeding frenzy, and then ... Snap! Pull the line taut. The ultimate in bait-and-switch techniques.

Great to see you, Robert, under any conditions. Stay in touch here, drop me a line, pop in at the 'Fugee, fly over in the Arkestra ...
